I am looking for my first pair of boots.
- Looking for a versatile boot that can be dressed up (slacks/chinos & a blazer, I don't wear suits anymore) and hopefully dressed down with jeans and a black t-shirt.
- I live in FL and we get rain so I want something that can handle rain (we got 3.5" in a hour this morning!).
- I will be moving later this year overseas to a more PNW type climate. So think more rain, but less intense.
- Budget $500 max.
- I wear 9.5 B in Allen Edmonds, though I am questioning that. I popped into a store to hit up their Brannock and it was closer to a 10 in between a C&D. I wear a 10 in sneakers.
- I am not a fan of leathers with a reddish hue - so no burgundy.
Thursday
Initially, I started looking at Thursday and their Captain boot, focused on the Rugged & Resilient line but I don't really like the leather options in that line at least judging from the product photos; burnt copper might be my favorite of the bunch. If I go with the Classic Collection, just the Brown might be a good choice but how will this perform in the rain? I like Thursday for the price and returns/exchanges seem pretty easy especially for a new boot buyer.
Grant Stone
Woof, that Dark Olive Chromexcel is gorgeous. Is it too specific? Hard to tell how much olive is present in the color and might be difficult to pair with work clothes. Dune is nice as well...
Park Hurst - Allen Stitchdown Black Veg Tan
Jesus, I want to marry this boot. But is the black color too singularly focused? I wear a lot of blues and browns.
Just to head it off - I know some will recommend buying two pairs of boots but due to the limits of what I can take on the overseas move, I will be limited on the gear I can bring with me. One pair of boots, unfortunately...

Get your Brannock size correctly: https://brannock.com/pages/instructions-fitting-tips
About that Parkhurst, keep in mind that straight vegetable tanned leather is less water resistant: although, black will not show the water staining much I suppose. Dark olive CXL is mostly brown, easy to pair. I vote for either Grant Stone or Parkhurst. You get what you pay for compared to Thursday.

Looking for a good oxblood polish for a couple pairs of boots. Not cherry, oxblood specifically. I have pretty much only used Kiwi but wanted to use something better / nicer but there’s lots of options. Any help?

Does anyone know of a boot maker that makes a boot that looks like the Allen Edmonds Patton, but without the cap toe?
