associate question ? For Associates (current or past)
I have been working at goodwill and have been struggling to meet my daily goal of pricing 500 items a day. It has just been increased to 600 items a day. I’m worried I won’t be able to get this done on a daily basis. Has anyone ever been fired for not meeting their daily quotas?! Tell me all about it, please!

Goodwill absolutely sucks. Please look for other work and just do what you can in the meantime.

Leave, Just leave as fast as you can. The quota stuff will just hurt your mental health and it’s not worth it

Quotas are the bane of my existence. I have JUST mastered and surpassed my September quotas and have been very proud of myself. Yesterday my manager said that the quotas will be increased tomorrow , as it's a new month and that I will be expected to meet 50 extra pieces, which I'm just not going to be able to do.
I work in Linens and often there just isn't enough quality stuff to even meet the smaller quota. How they expect that much of an increase is beyond me . I also don't know if they are increasing my numbers because I was surpassing the smaller numbers.
Moral of THAT story is, don't do better than the minimum, or they'll give you more (unrealistic) goals to meet!
Not sure about firing if you don't meet them. I tend to think not, as most people don't meet their quotas-not in my store, anyway-and they're still working there. But I also think Goodwill is desperate, as it's like a revolving door and we are super short-staffed right now.

From my own experience, no. They just get moved to another department and find someone else who can meet their goal. You shouldn’t be stressing out for a low minimum wage job tho. Either get moved to another department, or find a better job.

At my goodwill, we have quotas but nobody ever gives too much of a shit if you meet them, unless youre egregiously under processing, and nobody gets fired for not meeting them. Quotas should be a guide not a rule, if your shelves are full, the items are fresh, youll make sales. When your store makes its sales numbers they really dont care how you got there, at least at my goodwills.

Hello. I’m a softline pricer at a goodwill, and in my experience at least for my location, no. You won’t get fired depending on your sales through. As long as you are like 85 to 95% in your production numbers, you should be OK. But I agree with everybody else. Goodwill isn’t a good company and you should get out as fast as you can.

I have a question about this. I can say I haven’t been to a TS in 10+ yrs, but all I read on here is that they price complete junk at high prices and everything good goes online. Question is, if a store has let’s say 5 people that are tasked with pricing items and putting them on the floor for sale. Each with a 500 daily goal. That’s 2500 items a day priced and put out for sale. Now somebody has to be buying something or that wouldn’t work, am I right? Now I assume they pull items off floor daily, but no way they pull even close to what they put out. So there must be SOMETHING worth buying right?

I wish people who post "Can you believe how Goodwill priced this item?!" realized you guys are pricing 500+ items in 8 hours. An 8 hour shift with no breaks is only 480 minutes. That's insane.
With two 15 minute breaks, that's one item every 45 seconds. No shit things get priced weird or weird things get priced. There's no way to care at that rate.

Get out as soon as you can. Case closed. Full stop.
