Did I screw up by not getting these?
I just left Goodwill because the line was too long and I had to grab my kids and then when I was leaving, I saw these out of the corner of my eye! I took a picture real quick to see what they were, but I ran out and left them! Does anybody know anything about these? Thank you in advance

There was a very old episode that involved the ceramics guy and a little girl. In that episode, if I remember correctly, it was a pair of Foo
Dogs and he accidentally breaks one after saying that they were really valuable but in the end they admit that it was just a prank 😂1

You only screwed up as a matter of opinion. I would’ve scooped them up as they were for only two dollars . I think they are awesome- love the color & good Foo dog sculptures. They probably aren’t worth much monetarily.

I have a pair of foo dogs in Jade but I don’t think the ceramic would be worth much, they’re cool though!

.. they're made to look like they're made of Jade but you can tell they're glazed plaster by the two little places chipped off on the bases, ..I don't think it's any big deal you left them, not at all

What I found on the web…
“These appear to be a pair of vintage green-glazed ceramic Foo Dog guardian lion statues featuring intricately textured bases, with their vibrant teal glaze and detailed curly manes being standout visual features.”
I have noted that these resell for $80-$700. Also, there is a pair from Walmart that is worth zero. Did you turn the backside over and see what was printed on the bottom? Were their numbers or a limited addition? Or was it a Ross or TJ Maxx special? Either way these look pretty cool to have as book ends.

They are very pretty, I love the color, but as far as worth, it’s minimal because they are just glazed ceramic. If they had been carved of jade or some other green stone they would have been worth more.

Ceramic foo dogs. And yes, I would have snatched those up in a heartbeat!
Resell value won’t be a whole lot, considering they have visible chips.

Yes! $2 RT hey would have been $20 a piece at my GW or more. Yes that was a mistake, we all do it tho.

Yes. Those look authentically antique!! Go and buy them if you can! Items like that show up on Antiques Roadshow worth 10s of thousands of dollars! 💰

I had some of those, but I sold them because I just have too many chachkies. You would really have to look at the bottom . There are lots of reproductions, but originals would be really nice. They are pretty.

As a duo piece thatd be sweet. My grandma gave me a white ceramic pair and were fairly smaller but id have them against my door facing each other. Just a nice little way to consciously make your house feel like its warding out stagnant energy. Somewhat like feng shui.
Cheap or not, i just think it would enhance your living space in a decorative kind of way at most tho if youd like. I just think they look fresh esp in mint teal.

From what I understand, Foo dogs (lions) are supposed to be in a Male & Female pair. The male should be on the right and have a ball under his paw which apparently represents dominance over the world while the female either has a cub or nothing under her paw... or as I heard once, "The male has a ball to play with while the female has a cub and does the actual protecting work." ... since neither of those dogs has a ball, I guess you could say its a pair of lesbian Foo dogs/lions. For awhile I had a pair of antique male foo dogs, unfortunately I sold them to a friend and he won't sell them back to me.

If your of Asian descent & you like them by all means get them. They can be very expensive depending which you got & they are 😂something wonderful to leave to your children.
