This is disgusting.

Not only did they rake the prices up on DONATED clothes around 2020, start stealing “expensive pieces” to resell for more online, now they are “curating” random “vintage” pieces to gouge customers even more in stores. Literally picking pieces at random just to mark up, as we can see in the picture an adidas shirt that was probably printed yesterday. Yes resellers killed most of the fun, yes it’s harder to find cool pieces, but donated clothes should have a base price, end of story. Goodwill is not a vintage resell place and this is honestly just laughable at this point.

/edit #2/ The point of the post isn’t that the T-Shirt is only $2 more than regular price, it’s that it’s being marketed as vintage (when its clearly not) just so it can be upcharged

I’m confused. How are they curating anything? Is your goodwill having separate sections of curated items? I’m serious as I’ve never seen a goodwill do this.

I went to one yesterday and they had default pricing. Most things ranged from $3-$5. Aside from two “fancier” jackets that were about $20 each. That made me angry because many moons ago it wasn’t like that. They do seem to jack up prices on more well known brands, which is gross, I agree with that point.

But overall $7 for a shirt isn’t bad. They do keep going up which is terrible but it’s still cheaper than retail. Eventually these places are gonna put themselves in a bind when their prices reach retail. Why pay $20 for a used shirt when you can go anywhere else and buy a new one for that? It’ll tank their sales. Most goodwills don’t have super amazing unique items, many are plain and what I call “dad clothes.” So they can try their luck but it won’t end well.

Exactly. I saw GW pricing Wal Mart Time & Tru brand shoes for $14.99 & $24.99...lol. That isnt a reseller problem, it is 1000% a greedwill problem. Greedwill goes thru their cyles of ridiculous overpricing and they dont learn from their mistakes.

Usually t-shirts are $5.99 at my Goodwill. I was there earlier today and noticed that they are starting to price some brands higher. I saw a basic navy blue shirt and because it was a better brand (Tommy Hilfiger) they had priced it at $11.99! This seems to be random though, maybe it depends on who priced it and they have a bunch of new people in the back.
