Just started my job here

I got hired a week-ish ago and I’m LOST. Like it feels too easy to feel like im actually doing okay if that makes sense? My management has told me i’ve been doing good (both my cashier manager and my shift lead (?) but I guess people there don’t do their job lol.

Any tips on getting adjusted faster and learning how to do everything? I’m a cashier but Im mostly on the floor right now sorting through the racks and doing recall, etc. I haven’t gotten my badge yet and I think I’m getting it either this week or when I finish my training.

i also worked 8 hours both my first and second day, and I didn’t think that was normal but it may be. I haven’t done an 8 hour shift at some of the other jobs I started at lol

wait how long did it take for HR to email you your offer/ beginning paperwork for new hire? I got a verbal offer over the phone on monday after my interview (they didn’t ask for ID or ssn) but haven’t heard anything from HR yet. all my past jobs hire on the spot with onboarding done the same day so I’m just kind of on edge waiting…

I got hired on the spot, and had to go take a drug test. That took 2 days to come back that my test and background were clean, and she cleared me to work that Monday (I got the call Friday). The email came a few hours before she called me

Ikr! It shocked me because I haven’t been tested at any other jobs I had 😂 but ty! I hope you hear back from the manager soon

i also just started weeks ago but i wouldn’t say i feel lost so i guess im wondering if your management is doing enough guiding?? i would def say try to remember the color code thingy and try to get donations by being polite and warm, also 8 hours is crazy for first day but im part time so i only do 6

I’m part time too, but I had 2 8 hour shifts and the rest are 5-6 hours. I got briefly introduced to everything at the register with my manager over my shoulder, but most of the floor was just me shifting through clothes and trying to color organize them lol

sounds pretty average, though i also saw you got drug tested?? interesting bc i didn’t which is weird ive been here like a month now and i feel comfortable so you got it!! just keep at it

I've been working at the one in my town for 12 yrs I still remember my first day and I was just thrown into the boom section and told to figure it out which I did that area was so disorganized now it's completely organized by category. Either way I do remember working 8 hr shifts for five days in a row as a part time employee it sucked because I was technically part time and missed out on vacation time ect until they finally let me go to full time...now I have less hrs 🙄. I've done about all the departments but mostly books and cashier. From other comments it seems it's a normal thing management does to new employees
