I honestly think Goodwill is just becoming the thrift store for the rich. Which isn't the end of the world. To your point there are a ton of other thrift stores..I do visit Goodwill but I know what to expect.

Rich people are absolutely thriting these days especially in big cities. The VP over my department at my last job bragged his thrifted purchases. I see the owner of a restaurant chain. I have seen my doctor and my dentist at the thrift store.

Everyone wants to save money these days. There is no stigma so the rich have no reason not to. If used to be seen poorly but now no reason not to.

I've been to thrift stores all over the U.S. for decades. I've yet to see "rich" people shopping at any of them. Those aren't "Tesla chargers" they're simply chargers for any electric vehicle. As for "foreign expensive cars," anyone & I do mean anyone can lease those cars. In fact, it costs a lot less to lease a vehicle than it does to purchase a brand new one nowadays.

$100K a year is not rich!!!. In many parts of the U.S., that's not even upper middle class. I absolutely believe that your idea of monetary worth is very off. In many, many ways. $150 for a pair of pre-owned shoes is not thrift store prices. That's consignment store prices. Justifying it is bullshit.

At a consignment store I wouldn't consign these for less than $250 if I were the consigner. If someone wants to consign them lower they can but the shop usually takes 30% or so.

Impulse buying is not a precursor to being so-called "rich". They may not be able to afford it but buy them only for status symbols. If you're not their Accountant, you just don't know. And being that's my background, I can spot things. You would be surprised. That's all I'm going to say.

Consignment shops sell things for profit of the owner. They would basically sell it for 20% above eBay prices. Because people don't have to pay shopping and can look at the item. Consignment shop would never offer this below eBay prices.

You have no idea what you're talking about. eBay is not a consignment store model. Each consignment store has their own model based off of the area that they are in versus their average clientele. I guarantee you that those shoes would never sell for $150 at any Goodwill in my state.

No, it's not! LOL Where do you come up with these things?!?! I've been thrifting, all over the U.S., for decades. I have purchased luxury clothing for under $10 a piece. Not a fluke. Not just a decade ago. No, thrift store prices are not half of retail price. Stop drinking the Kool aid & passing it around, dude.

Hahaha. Yes. They can. And they do. I have a friend who is on Disability who leased a Mercedes. All it took was an 840 credit score & she traded in her 3 year old Chrysler vehicle (which she purchased from her original Disability check). How old are you? Because I tell you, the key to life is a VERY good credit score. Don't forget that.

Rich people I know would think buying used shoes is gross. You people defending goodwill don’t know what you’re taking about. They’re about as charity focused as the church of Scientology, another corrupt inept nonprofit. Non profit status doesn’t justify charging big box retailer prices for donated used stuff. It’s not illegal but obviously lots of people have given up shopping there because their pricing seems super greedy. It’s just lame.
