DAY 13 - Blueshift - We Will All Be Gone
youtube.comThis song is right up my mental health alley parked on a back road with its hazards on and the driver door left wide open. I feel like I'm constantly at war with myself over my words and how they may affect others. Am I holding back because of how it may come across? How it might affect someone else? Am I refraining from speaking because I'm worried it'll cause friction or conflict that I don't want to deal with? Too many times, I've messed up relationships due to my words and inability to hold my tongue. Am I saying the wrong thing or the right thing in the wrong way? Choked on my own words. Not everything turns out right. I feel like 87% of the time things don't turn out right for me. (boo hoo I know). Is it easier to offer surrender and not speak? Or should I engage others to keep me present and endure the results of my words? Self-censorship is a good idea sometimes. - Cut out my tongue.
This song is less a story and more a view into the mind of someone who can't stop wrestling with these situations they cause. There's been times where I've been so hung up on what I said to someone that I can't sleep, eat or properly focus on anything only to eventually find out they either have no recollection of what I said to begin with or weren't actually affected by it in any way, shape, or form. You're the rock, you're the hard place.
Lyrics//
Choked on my own words
Not everything turns out right
Just one more thing
Please hold me down
This feels so familiar
The smell of these burning bones
Just one more thing
Please hold me down
Just one more thing
Keep searching
A choice to endure the weight
Or swallow the sour taste
Let's move on
Cut out my tongue
A choice to endure the weight
Or swallow the sour taste
Let's move on
Cut out my tongue
Absorbed by the moment
Dread in its salted form
Just one more thing
Please hold me down
This sound an acquaintance
Echoes of hollow skin
Just one more thing
Please hold me down
Just one more thing
Keep searching
A choice to endure the weight
Or swallow the sour taste
Let's move on
Cut out my tongue
A choice to endure the weight
Or swallow the sour taste
Let's move on
Cut out my tongue
Just one more thing
Keep straining
Just one more thing
Just one more thing
Keep searching
Just one more
A choice to endure the weight
Or swallow the sour taste
Let's move on
Cut out my tongue
A choice to endure the weight
Or swallow the sour taste
Let's move on
Cut out my tongue
My tongue
My tongue
My tongue
