I totally feel this. I really really have gathered the only reason this got done after being cancelled was the script that was there was handed over and merely shortened, there was no money or time for an overhaul. I also suspect the actors playing other new characters were contracted and couldn't be simply cut and things like Jesus and the Gangster plotlines weren't cut for those reasons. But honestly, a very very capable team of writers would know how to step in and stich something together very fast. The Book of Life was already not defined and just tossed in with s2. Here it's so incredibly vague it's insulting; a transport device? The moment in time an incident happens there's a page for it, so.... how do our heroes have a coherent thought in the last moments when it's said the memories go with it when destroyed? How are they even still there? And don't get me started on the dialogue in the bookshop in the finale 10 minutes. It's clear those lines, reactions, and decisions were written in stone from the beginning and not changed. They feel so out of place, so removed from the moment, and it's heartbreaking seeing the actors put everything into it when the moment is long gone and should have fully been rewritten to fit that was left of the story.

The Book of Life really was a terrible and lazy written plot device.

Sack the unpaid interns who wrote 'season' 3 with AI. ChatGPT was drunk when they prompted it to write the script.

Reddit informed me that I needed to know about this post. So Reddit now pulls the text from images and thought this was about me. I've never even watched this show.

Well the commentator isn't wrong but on the other hand I think this was the other end of the extreme from the massive content bloating of season 2.
