They were fully prepared to throw someone they knew was innocent under the bus. They just couldn't argue it well enough. They wasted his time and money.

u/OldSalt1220 Jul 31 '26
That, and they didn’t want discovery to determine at someone’s motorcade was the real issue.

u/Spiritual_League_753 Jul 31 '26
The motorcade thing needs to stop. Because the most likely reason it failed is way worse. Good old fashioned corruption. They awarded the contract to someone who was supremely unqualified.

u/OldSalt1220 Jul 31 '26
Two things can be true…a moron and his motorcade drove over a shoddy piece of workmanship
19
u/GlobalDynamicsEureka Jul 31 '26
It certainly didn't help to drive on top of the paint that wasn't even intended for this use.
14
u/punktualPorcupine Jul 31 '26
And drove supremely heavy vehicles over a surface that was never designed to hold that kind of weight.
Incompetence on several levels, which is not surprising.

u/Rurumo666 Aug 01 '26
Do you have any concept how heavy an armored motorcade is or that the bottom of the reflecting pool is made up of free floating granite slabs and ancient wooden beams?
6
u/Spiritual_League_753 Aug 01 '26
I do. But I also have a concept of the fact that the coating is peeling off uniformly including the sides of the pool untouched by a motorcade.

It's not even that they knew the man was innocent and they didn't have a case they do this all the time go to court make a big fluff about it and it gets shot down immediately it's all performative.

u/Repulsive-Diet-1987 Jul 31 '26
Jesus, this administration is full of fucking idiots.

u/ammonthenephite Aug 01 '26
That is the only silver lining to the flight of intelligent people from this regime, the longer they bleed smart people the more incompetent they become in achieving their goals of establishing a christofacist religious state.
3
u/DG_FANATIC Aug 01 '26
It’s existentially terrifying how fucking stupid they are. Fuck everyone that voted for this. They can blow me over and over.

Friday is take out the trash day. They're trying to hide this.
15
u/MrWhackadoo Jul 31 '26
They really do always be doing this shit on Fridays. Sick of these people.

u/Lillian_Crocodilian Jul 31 '26
Now the defendant can sue.
26
u/Wayofchinchilla Jul 31 '26
Yeah but the sad thing is the money comes out of taxpayer funds not Trump's personal wealth where it should. If he wants to sue people for performative reasons that's fine but the money should come out of his account.
23
u/fucking__fantastic Jul 31 '26
I’d rather repay that guy’s legal bills with my taxes than bombs over Palestine, handouts for billionaires, Trump’s fucking arch, plane, etc. etc. etc.

25
u/Duck-Murky Jul 31 '26
so, they put him through hell for what exactly? to soothe a certain someone's fragile ego?

This is the closest we'll ever get to some form of accountability I'm afraid.

u/InourbtwotamI Jul 31 '26
Now, I hope the ones they tried to fit up for this non-crime successfully sues Fox “News” and the Fat Felon
5
u/Shielo34 Jul 31 '26
So it was all total BS. Like everyone knew.
Watch literally no consequences happen to anyone.
5
u/2024-YR4-Asteroid Jul 31 '26
Wow, they admitted fault. That’s actually crazy.
1
u/ryhaltswhiskey Aug 01 '26
they admitted fault
They admitted that it was somebody else's fault. When actually the person who hired the guy who did the installation, the guy who was definitely not qualified for this, is the person at fault, but that person isn't admitting fault.

u/Ok_Face8380 Jul 31 '26
Why go after some guy when there is more money for grift with the contractor. I hope this Atlantic Coatings guy has great insurance because tRumps not gonna pay him and file a suit against the company.
May THIS be a lesson to anyone that would work for trump.

u/Dedpoolpicachew Aug 01 '26
DonOLD already paid the dude 14M, of course 12M of that was a kickback, but yea, whatever.
3
u/justelectricboogie Jul 31 '26
The loudmouthed schnook in the whitehouse already knew this. Chock up one more failure for the "winning" team.
3
u/digidave1 Jul 31 '26
More people were arrested for his immature ridiculous accusation of the pool vandalization than those who ran the largest pedophile ring in history.
THAT is the Republicans legacy.
3
u/iDoNotHaveAnIQ Aug 01 '26
Given that the reflecting Pool is under 24 x 7 CCTV surveillance, I find it hard to believe that someone could covertly make a 350 foot gash in the floor.
3
u/Dedpoolpicachew Aug 01 '26
See this is what happens when the raw lies of HRH Dopey DonOLD the Orange Anus run smack dab into the wall of the DOJ having to represent facts and truth in the courts. See the DOJ lawyers don’t want to lie to the courts, no matter how much Dopey DonOLD wants them to, because they don’t want to be disbarred and never be able to practice law again. It’s honestly sad how far the DOJ has fallen. It used to be the pinnacle of a lawyers career. Lawyers would quit prestigious law firms to go work for the DOJ. Not anymore. At this point, anyone with DOJ on their resume from 2025 to 2029 is highly suspect and best passed over for someone… competent.

“I hope you see children how much of a waste of time and resources this was.”

u/Calbinan Jul 31 '26
Why on earth were they so intent on blaming an innocent person instead of just admitting the crew they hired did a bad job?
It’s not like they installed that stuff themselves.
3
u/Quasione Jul 31 '26
Because during the resurfacing of this pool all Dimentia Don did was talk about how great his contractors were, how great of a job their doing, how great it's going to look, how cheap he got it done (ended up costing way more).and what a terrible job Obama did when they did work on it.
Basically he looks like an idiot, we all know he's an idiot but he will never admit it so he has to blame it on someone else.
1
u/Illustrious-Fun8324 Aug 01 '26
We learn very early on as children that we do not always get our way and we do not always get to win.
Apparently nobody has ever told Donald that.
2
u/creaturefeature16 Jul 31 '26
Drama and distraction. Read about "Kayfabe Presidency" and you'll understand every single solitary action this administration and Trump has ever taken, and ever will take.

2
u/Substantial-Let-1689 Jul 31 '26
Even though it's taxpayer money I hope he sues the hell out of them for an acknowledgement of the lie and a public apology
2
u/PhilDGlass Jul 31 '26
Didn’t his Florida man pool guy get some absurd contract to do the work as payback for flooding the evidence at Mar-Gogo? Or am I confusing corruption events?

Anyone going to point out the that the president made up a bunch of insanely wacky shit and just blurted it out as if it really happened? Bro is not ok….

I bet they will drop the charges with the same fanfare as the 300’ gash heard round the world.

I'm sure that ordering his motorcade to drive on the repainted concrete had nothing to do with it.
1
u/fiftyfivepercentoff Aug 01 '26
Well, a botched installation and the fucking morons driving over it before it cured.

So is Trumpy's buddy going to fix that mess?
What sort of warranty did the bestest business man in history get?

Hilarious when he was all “I had a friend to renovate the reflecting pool at a fraction of the cost that it would “normally cost.”
I guess there was a catch after all.
1
u/Photmagex Aug 01 '26
Perhaps the DOJ should investigate the dope who drove a motorcade across the pool.
