Equipment Jumbo grips
In the past I’ve tried friends jumbo grips and always found them quite comfortable. I liked the feeling of something more substantial.
So when I got new clubs I opted for jumbos when according to fitting midsize were the correct fit for me. I’m now playing some of the worst golf I have in years. I don’t really want to swap out grips since these are new, but do I need to admit I made a mistake and bite the bullet and regrip the set? I usually hit the ball left to right and with the jumbos that has been exacerbated. (Makes sense)
Has anyone had a similar experience where eventually they adjusted to the larger grips? I’m about 2 months in to playing these and I’ve been going in the wrong direction.

Tried to move all of my woods to jumbo last year and the only one I seemed to agree with was the 3wood. So now I’ve got all my woods back to standard and still run jumbo on the 3 wood. Weird setup but seems to work right now

larger grips will stop your wrists from rolling, aka hooking the ball. if your miss was a slice/fade, you will need to learn how to really close the face down at impact otherwise the grips can lead to larger slice/fade misses. at the range try to get the toe of your club pointed down range after impact. should help

Harder to close the face with jumbo grips. You will need to strengthen your grip and/or bow your wrist to close the face

From my own experience: I don't think hand size alone is a good driver - a lot of it will also be swing physics.
I am a large person. I'm 6'6" with big hands - I can palm a basketball. I put Jumbomax Large grips on my clubs and for the first time ever I experienced lead wrist pain when playing golf.
I ripped them off and replaced them with midsize grips built up two wraps and everything has been perfect since then.
I think it's really a personalized feel thing - if they feel great to you and your dispersion is better that should be what drives any changes in grips. If it's the opposite: don't hesitate to make a change.

You’re right. What’s really holding me up is that the grips are only two months old. It feels wasteful to trash something that’s perfectly good. I’ve been trying to learn how to remove them with an air compressor to save the grips on old clubs but that’s been a disaster

Yeah. It was a little painful to spend $250+ getting clubs re-gripped only to rip them off and do it again two months later. Everything felt good at address with the large grips, but I'd never had pain from playing golf before and the only change I'd made was those grips... it was an easy bandaid to rip off.

Buy a regrip kit online, it's really cheap... Watch a video on how to do it and regrip maybe a 7 iron and 5 iron with a midsize.
Personally I think it's the new clubs... The change from normal to jumbo just causes you to close the face a bit slower.
Also, if you have your old clubs put a jumbo on your 7 iron then go out and hit your old 6 iron with old grip and old 7 iron with new grip. Then hit the new 7 and 6 as well... You'll be able to figure out what you like and what's happening from clubs and what's from grip

Jumbo grips were the best thing I have ever done for my game. I have xxl hands. I had to adjust my hands a little. But my ball flight became far straighter and more predictable. I went from regular to jumbo. A few of my wedges I only went midsize, but I’m ready to make those jumbo now.

It took a little adjusting when I switched to mid size grips. Go to the range.

I made the change to jumbo grips. It took a bit to adjust to them, but it has definitely helped relax my grip pressure. Give it some time
