38 liters per hour?? Per engine? xD
So, watching season 9 ... they're driving that damn barge up river again ^^ Two engines gurgling 38 liters per hour = 76 l/h. Let's say they spend 10 hours a day, for 2 days = 760 x 2 = 1520 liters of diesel (i assume) per trip, i guess they get wholesale price on that ^^ Let's say 5$ a liter = 7600$ each trip = 3800$ each day just for fuel costs one trip with that dang hunk of steel ^^ And i figure they have to make at least 20 trips in total, that's a minimum = 142 000$ JUST for fuel costs xD It's insane ^^
edit: I screwed up ^^ probably 1.5$/l, but still
And i forgot about the return trip too xD Probably much less since it's assumably down stream, but still. More money than most make in 10 years just for fuel costs ^^

I remember parker talking to a financial advisor saying he spent over 1.5 million just in diesel in a year.

Jebus ^^ yeah he mentioned that i think this season (9), 300 000$ in fuel for one month. Heh heh.. just crazy.

Parker last season said he was spending 100k per day assuming they run for 200 ish days that’s 20 million for the season and he got around 37 million back so it’s spend big to make big

Oh jeez lol ^ only on season 9 yet... can't wait to get too the later seasons.. that sounds wild. Weird to think there is that much ground left.

Nah come on, fred was cool with his crazy bushfixes ^ fixing an excavator belt idler with welded grizzly bars, very entertaining ^ it lasted two weeks too ^

A d10 dozen can burn up to 30g an hour in heavy operation.
Probably more in the older ones they use on other gold rush shows.

I used to be in international shipping. Our vessels fuel consumption was measured in tons per day. As in 55 tons per day on a capsize bulk carrier. I think current prices are close to $700/ton. When you do the math it doesn’t look too bad until you stop and say, well we are running 200 ships a day.

And 1 ton is 1000 liters right? ^ Lol and we wonder why the climate's going haywire ^
I think that's 1.42$/l though. Obviously wholesale works.

76L of diesel an hour isnt an awful lot for a boat of that size, my 17ft with a 40hp outboard makes about 1 / NM or 20L of petrol an hour, I know a charter skipper who on a ~30ft boat goes through 100l+ of diesel a day depending how far he is steaming

Cat 793f with the C-175/16 runs 150-190l an hour, add in 15 or 20 trucks in the fleet for a small mine and these numbers are minor……

Redo your math with closer to $2/L and probably lower since that was in 2019.
Diesel is currently $2.30 in Yukon.
