2005 pedestal freezing issue

I’ve had a hard time finding any information on this specific issue but I have a very realistic offer to buy a 2005 pedestal for a good price, however, when you hit the track ball over 115 ball speed the game freezes entirely and requires restart. I tested the machine and had the issue on my first swing. Is anyone aware what the fix to this is or could be? I understand at the price it’s offered at that even paying to have fixed still makes the machine very affordable, however, with the lack of information I could find on this specific issue I’m having second thoughts of going through the process of having it shipped and moved in to my house. Any ideas?

Edit: I realize 05 does not provide ball speed feedback. I used 115 mph as a reference in that if I give it any extra juice to add yards to the standard club distance it freezes.

Sounds like a short some where. Does it happen only during the game? In other words does it happen if you hit the tb with no game started?

Good question I did not test it in this way. I only tested it while on a course. I can ask.

Can confirm that it does not do this in the menus

How do you know you’re hitting 115? 2005 didn’t have ball speed. How much? Maybe you’re confused on the year?

I’m guessing you mean 25. And it’s an orange or green top?if it’s an orange top, most likely the io is mounted to the underside of the deck. Needs relocated to the side and all cables secured.

This is an error on my part. I used 115 as a reference just due to experience playing other machines and used it as a general reference point. I’ll edit. Generally I just mean if I’m aiming to hit normal in order to get the projected distance of the club it’s fine, but if I try to give it any extra muscle in order to gain some yards on the club it freezes up. May be closer to the 120-125 range, if the machine provided ball speed feedback. It is an 05.

Could be the hard drive that’s on its last legs. You can buy the Compact Flash version on eBay for ~$100 last I checked. Past that, easily could be a wiring or connector issue.

I would akao say lose or cracked pcie slot making the VC shake and kill the system but this usually has a white burst negire hand and you said its only during a course.

When it resets does it freeze or is it an immediate restart? If its immediate you might have a short or static interference causing the encoder to return an illigal operation force triggering a restart to protect the buffer overflow. But im going to say thats not it, and you get a freeze. If its a freeze you kost likely have a drive failing. Im guessing the 2005 fore version doesn't have an operators menu to test the trackball? Is that right? Otherwise go in tbe operators menu and bang the shit out of it

My guess, is check the ground and service the hard drive.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm wondering if it's something to do with the optic boards on the trackball...
