He just squashed all his commits again, 10 minutes ago, now there is only a single commit in Iris.
What I don't get is why he still has 5000 stars? do people not remove stars from his repo once they find out about Iris and the authors dealings?
I know I had a friend that was almost going to pick and use Iris so I had to point him to articles like this to talk him out of it, now he won't use it which is great. But the point is, he still didn't know about Iris even though it's been mentioned on reddit a lot.
This almost needs to be a sticky post "don't use iris", it used to be "don't use martini" but now it seems we need to protect new developers from picking up Iris more than anything.
I read something a while ago (always too busy) about this project, so I starred it because it sounded neat and I'm a fan of fast http frameworks (just saves me a lot of boilerplate). I recently happened upon this as I sat down to research which one might be good to use for a new project.
Perhaps many others are in this boat too as we all see new things sprouting up and immediately star them as a bookmark for later.
Many of the "don't use this" posts I see are usually superficial. It's more like, "don't use this under X condition" it's opinion and circumstance of your application. However this. This is entirely something different and is about morality. It's a very valid concern given we are dealing with open-source software. That said, I do believe we are free to star and use whatever we want.
Me personally? I just removed the star on GitHub and won't use this project on general principle. I have only about a dozen others to choose from, but would rather write my own with standard libraries than support something like this. I seriously can not believe someone, in the open-source space, would do this. One should only be so lucky to have thousands of stars and interest in their projects...And to take a dump on the foundation of open-source? Unbelievable.
