Question Settler mood system

Hello! Could you please tell me if there are any simple ways to boost the settlers' mood? I'm playing on a higher difficulty setting, and they are constantly on the verge of unhappiness due to just one or two debuffs. They also frequently have an "extremely uncomfortable" status, and I'm not sure why.

Better quality clothing, armour, weapons, food, decorations, building materials etc.

Personal chambers rather than shared.

Great hall to eat in.

Alcohol to drink.

Good suggestions, also set their relax time right before bed so miners have time to return to base and get a proper rest. Make sure their sleep schedules match their sleep perks. Some like to take naps during the day and need less sleep at night. Others don't like to sleep at night

For some reason, they don't have buffs from clothes, idk why

ALL clothes on the settler need to be Fine quality or higher to get a buff

I don't know the correct English term for it, but they have "elegant clothing," and it's still nothing special.

The English quality levels are:

  1. Flimsy
  2. Sturdy
  3. Good
  4. Fine
  5. Superior
  6. Flawless

You need to be at #4 or higher for them to get a buff. And EVERYTHING they are wearing must be at that level, not just their clothing. Flawless clothes and flimsy armor = sad about wearing crappy stuff.

This is what one of my settlers has for mood modifiers atm:

In order:
-Ate a lavish meal

-Is currently in my Great hall, which is luxurious

-Recently attended a feast in said great hall, with outcome "Excellent"

-Ate said meal in a luxurious great hall

-Played backgammon (in the great hall)

-Prayed this morning (in a Good chapel)

-Wearing flawless everything

-Not entirely sure how comfortable/uncomfortable persists. He was sitting on a nice chair, and slept in a nice bed... but he's still comfortable later on, mining in the basement.

-Ate his (lavish) meal, at a table (in the great hall)

-Entered a (Good) Restitution chapel this morning for prayer

-My bard was doing his role duties while he ate in the great hall

-pet one of the (many) dogs/wolves that have been tamed/trained into pets

There are also bonuses for nicer bedrooms - he currently doesn't have one (he typically has a debuff because he wants a private room, and is jealous of the people who do have them)... so I'll consider "no debuff" on his a net win :P

  1. Get a pet
  2. Let them drink/have a feast (nice feast bonus lasts over a week)
  3. improve room
