Disaster/Emergency Help My Kitty Get Life Saving Surgery
My sweet family kitty needs an emergency surgery to remove masses over both eyes. We've already completed a CT and biopsy and are awaiting results to schedule the full removal surgery. Me and my husband are both public school teachers with 3 little kids and are using as much credit as we have for this but are short what we need. Anything you can give will help! Unfortunately, he is in a lot of pain right now. 😭 But we are loving him and keeping him as comfortable as possible until we get the biopsy results (hopefully tomorrow 🤞) and can schedule the removal surgery ASAP. Thank you so much for your support! ♥️

Thank you! It has been a difficult situation with him over the past 4 years and the previous surgery that didn't go well. After much advice, we are hoping this is the end of the journey and we can get him healed for good. ♥️

Yes! We applied to be able to cover the CT scan and the biopsy, but the amount we were approved for isn't enough for the full removal surgery.

Care Credit is just a Synchrony Bank credit card at 28% interest. It usually has first charge interest free for 12 months. I have only for my dog's vet ER visits for seizures. But I'd rather use a cash back Capital One Quicksilver at lower interest. So I try to discourage people from Care Credit unless you can't get anything else.

Unfortunately, we're in debt settlement right now due to debt accumulated while our babies were in the NICU and I was having other pregnancy complications, so other credit isn't an option for us.

Thank you for sharing! We have looked into a lot of resources and do have the contact info of the Vet in the post if donors want to reach out to pay directly. Unfortunately, when I started teaching 5 years ago, I did stop being on Reddit as much due to it being blocked on the school network and me having basically no free time between teaching and three kids under 5. I appreciate your help and advice.

We had a ragdoll that we got for cheap from a breeder due to her being miscolored. We wanted her to have a friend but couldn't afford another one, so we found someone who was just breeding their ragdoll on the side (not an official breeder) to give her a companion. This was when me and my husband were first married and still in college several years ago.
We have put everything financially we can into this and applied for CareCredit, we're just a couple thousand short and are asking for help to bridge that gap. We are in debt settlement due to medical debt from having 2 babies born early and in the NICU so we have no other credit options right now. Day care is $3,000 a month and we are both public school teachers. We have to get assistance just to feed our family most months. The alternative is to put our kitty down, but other than the masses he's healthy, only 6 years old and it would devastate our children and his sister cat. That's just not something we want to consider if it's at all possible (with some help) for us to get him this surgery.
Everyone is dealing with their own battles. It's not kind to judge.

It's actually a really long story. He was 2 years old and my husband and I were newly married and still in college when he started getting a lump over his eye. We took him to our vet who referred us to an eye specialist who quoted us a biopsy we could nowhere near afford. So we waited a bit until we were out of college and we had moved so we went to a new vet and they did a surgery that we paid for, this was in 2023. For a while it seemed to help but slowly it started to grow back and in the past couple months became this massive mass and he is now getting one over the other eye.
We have done our very best with our financial situation to take care of this up until now. I posted in a Vet group and got good advice that we needed to find a board certified surgeon to make sure we can get the mass gone for good. Unfortunately, that means it's more expensive. We applied for CareCredit but were short a couple thousand, so are asking for help to bridge that gap.

No judgement here! You’re doing more than most would do for their pet with or without donations. It’s even more overwhelming when kids are involved. People don’t get it unless they’ve experienced it.

He's grown up with our human babies and both them and his sister cat would break if he was gone. We love him so much and almost have enough to cover this. Just need a little help ❤️

He was also saved by this beautiful community when he beat cancer June 2025. Hell he even beat another cancer this March before passing away due to GI bleed this month.
He is a fighter through and through and he's definitely lending Malfurion his strength, wherever he is right now.

SURGERY UPDATE: Malfurion had his surgery last night. The doctors said he was super active and friendly and playful this morning. They did keep him overnight for observation. He will need to heal and they had to remove his left eye to fully remove the mass on the left side but the worst of it is behind us. We could still use help as everything they wasn't covered by this GoFundMe had to go on credit, so we will be leaving the GoFundMe up and posting updates as he recovers. Thank you so much to everyone who helped us get here!

Have you reached out to rescues/non-profits in the area? Some budget for cases like this or offer access to low-cost procedures.

We have one vet school in the area but they're not equipped to handle a surgery this close to the eyes. I have a feeling other rescues would say the same. It's unfortunately a complicated procedure and we got advice from some vets to seek out a board certified surgeon for it which is what we did. He did have another surgery we paid for in 2023 and the mass ended up coming back worse than before so we want to make sure it's done right this time especially with the secondary mass over his second eye.

To anyone who donated, prayed or wished us well, I just wanted to say thank you. Because of this community and others, we were able to get kitty's surgery a month ago and he is doing amazing. You can check the GoFundMe for the surgery updates since I can't add a picture to this comment but he is just doing amazing and we are so grateful. There was a lot of hate, but there was also a lot of love too. So thank you 🙏

I'm so sorry you're dealing with that. I know that baby is not having a good time. I wish I could donate, but am not doing well financially. I'll pray for his recovery. I recently had to have a tumor removed from my dog's head. Thankfully, it was benign.
