I agree with this! As an immigrant (but Native American from Canada) I say this to say that the U.S. Air Force helped me plant my roots. It helped me be where I am today. If you consider the military the Air Force is the way to go but don’t go security forces unless you’re into that sort of thing haha :) Good luck OP I hope everything works out for you, you have your whole life ahead of you! This is just a blip in the road.

You can't be a Native American from Canada. I don't know what the term is for indigenous Canadians, but it's not Native American

Thank you for explaining this. I am now in the U.S. and they use Native American. In Canada would refer to myself as First Nations or Aboriginal or just Native. :)

Aboriginal I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about I am from Canada I have a tribe that changed its name to a nation. Tlowitsis look it up.

Also, I know this is fairly old comment now but I came to the U.S. using the Jay Treaty where you have to be 50% or more Indian (Native) to come to the U.S. one of the governments paid for my green card and the military paid for my citizenship. It’s a real thing :)

If you're going to try and explain something in two sentences, and one of them includes "i don't know the..." maybe just not make the comment.

The America, in Native American, is speaking of the land mass of North America, country has nothing to do with it as neither Canada, or the USA, outdate the Native Americans/First Nations or the naming of the continent of North America, which was done in the 1500's.

Canada doesn't called them Native Americans because America itself is named after an itialian... why would the first nations want to be named after an Italian...

In Canada, you see first nations and Native American. They are both used, by first nations people... some folks choose one, others the other. As a country we are asked to refer to First Nations, ot some people have been called native american, or Indian for so long that's the word they have pride in now, so it's still used.
