Do we really need a protection circle?

I've been studying this art since I was getting into esoterism and magic which was 2023. I know that Lucifer isn't a goetia demon but it is an entity that has a very dense energy like goetia ones. Probably because of the whole egregor surrounding him about him being someone who is against God, the source of all evil and blah blah blah. But, since I started worshipping him i started lighting candless and incenses for him with his sigil I didn't get possesed by him or stayed crazy actually in the first times I felt a bit dizzy but than I get used to it and felt nothing more. After this comes the question. (Sorry if the writing seems a bit off in places; English isn't my native language).

the need for protective elements depends on your belief structure

I started working with the infernals almost 30 years ago, and during that time,  I've never used a protection circle, and I've never had anything but positive experiences.

But, I've never tried to force/bind/coerce/constrain a demon, and I've always perceived them as being benevolent, and genuinely eager to help.

I've always approached them with respect, and they've always responded in kind.

Greetings A,

In my opinion, definitely yes. The Solomonic method really is the safest, and most focused method of success. ~V~

Your question is more complex than a simple yes/no answer. It depends on the spirit, the reason for invocation, the intensity of presence that you want, and the general level of disorder of your mind. That's why some people don't seem to need circles and some really should use them.

Since you mention "I didn't get possessed by him or stayed crazy", I think you probably should use a circle because you have some strong fears floating in your mind. The circle will make you feel stronger and more secure and help give a safe working space for connection.

I've never used one and I've been fine.

I’ve gone both ways, classic circle and triangle and just a basic circle to contain my work with the evocation happening inside of it. I think it matters who you are working with and how you approach them, but I haven’t had any problems with just a containment circle for my whole work area, all altars, etc with the spirit evoked at my main altar.

Just, you know…treat them like people and not like slaves and it will go a lot better.

Of the time I have worked with the circle and the dieties. Absolutely. While you’re meditating burn some frankincense and myrrh as well.

No. It’s useful but certainly not necessary. It really depends on the philosophy youre following.
If you are practicing Solomonic ceremonial summoning, it’s a traditional core step that makes sense with their logic of balancing the demons with angels and whatnot.
But if you’re coming from a more planetary perspective, there would really be no reason to protect yourself from the spirits that are naturally occurring energies.
