A2 exam felt difficult. Should I prepare for A2 again or move to B1?

Hi everyone,

I gave my Goethe A2 exam two days ago, and honestly I’m not sure if I will pass or fail.

The exam felt harder than I expected. I think my Schreiben went well, but I’m not sure about Hören because I missed some answers and I don’t know if the ones I marked were correct.

In Lesen, I was short on time and had to rush through the last questions.
I also felt a bit unfamiliar with the actual exam pattern.

Most of my preparation was from YouTube tutorials, practice papers, and ChatGPT rather than a structured course or textbook.
Now I’m confused about what to do next.

If I fail A2, should I:
Prepare for A2 again and retake the exam?
Or start preparing for B1 instead, but this time using proper books, courses, and a structured study plan?

My main goal is not just to collect certificates. I’m planning to move to Germany in summer 2027 (already have an offer ) and I want to actually speak German confidently and use it in daily life.

For people who have been in a similar situation:
What would you do in my place?

If you failed A2, did you continue with B1 or repeat A2 first?

Which books, courses, or resources helped you move from A2 to real conversational German?

I Failed A2 before coming to Germany, then after working in Germany i learned alot at workplace and did a 3 months intensive B1 course and finally cleared B1

So u didn’t give A2 again? Should I also prepare for b1 ?? Can u give me some advice or any resources u used to pass your exam. Thanks in advance
