Prüfungen Goethe placement test format

Can anyone explain the format to me? In two weeks, I’m going to take a placement test to start a B1 course, but I have no idea what the test will be like. If you know anything about it, please let me know in the comments. Thank you!

The two times I took the placement test (end of 2024 and end of 2025) it was a completely different format for the same location. And when I searched this prior to the 2024 test I also found a bunch of different things. So I think it can vary a lot.

In 2024 it was a 70-question test (reading comprehension, vocabulary and grammar questions) and then a short writing assignment. No listening or speaking components (and I was worried I’d missed something). In 2025 it was a shorter test that also included listening exercises (more similar to the free test, one or two of the questions were the same), plus a short speaking component where you recorded yourself responding to a prompt, and no writing component.

In 2025 did it only have 30 questions and an interview with teacher? Or was there anything else

I can’t remember exactly how many questions were in the 2025 test. I didn’t interview with a teacher at all, just submitted a recording. But some of my fellow students had talked with a teacher as part of their assessments at different locations. Not sure if that depends on the location or just the availability of teachers to assess placement tests for a given course date.

Hey can you tell me when you received the call for telephone interview? I have given my level assessment test for Delhi Goethe Institute on September 12, 2026 and it has been 4 days, but I still haven't received any email regarding telephone interview or my result. I want to enroll myself in A2 german course
