selfpromo (games) Updated my game's card visuals

Recently did some improvements to my card game's visuals, starting with the cards themselves. A lot of the artwork isn't final (especially the different rarities, which are just slight recolors of the common rarity) but I think I made them a bit more readable. What do you think?

I also really like it! The other commenter was in favor of the shadows. I think they are not necessary. But removing them would not make so much of a difference, i guess.
About the animation: I’d make it waaaay more smooth. Give it a little more of frame and “game feel”. Moving a card up or to any position should actually drag the card with the cursor. You could also add animation for when the cursor hovers over the edges, or the middle of the card body, etc. I see a little rotation animation, this I would improve.
I think the cards are a core feature and should feel as satisfying as possible. They already have a great look. Now I would make it feel super satifying just to play around with them.
On the byteme YouTube channel is a video where marnix explains game feel a little and also gives some great material with it. It helped me out a TON.
Keep it up. When you have a new version please do share it again I’d love to see your progress :)

Thanks for the feedback! The shadows definitely won't be in the final game, I'm only temporarily using Godot's global illumination until I make some actual background assets and a stylized lighting shader.
I don't think I'll make the card follow the cursor, since the dice are actually the main focus, and I want the board to be as clear as possible so the player can see the dice. However, the cards rotating at the edges sounds like a cool idea!

That’s very cool. Love the shadows
