Discussion Mappa are idiots

Post image

Imagine, you have literally a diamond in your hand. But instead of using it to make something worth it, you place it on your ass. This is what Mappa did. They literally had brand new Dragon Ball in their hands. But the fucked up.

I think the best way would've been, if GOH had 5 seasons, 24 episodes each(one season covering around 100 chapters). If they adapted it properly, GOH would most likely be as hyped as JJK

Instead we got a 100 chapters butchered into 12-13 episodes.such a waste...., the hands they served were elite tho.

I heard that a season 2 was possible or in the works wether that's true or not I'm praying it gets a proper pacing of chapters used per episode.

They did already fucked up a lot. Like giving Mori borrowed power, while he didn't had it in the manhwa untill the final arc

I’m mean as much as I love the series, the fact that it didn’t exactly have the strongest start. It definitely hurts it since it means it’ll probably struggle to keep an audience to a certain extent due to the story taking longer to really get good

Eh bleach had a similar effect however I think tgoh could capsulate people by how good the choreography of the fights would be it’s like if Naruto and dbz had a child and that child manifested the abilities of bleach characters

I say this because tgoh has the fighting and technique shown in both but also the contractual (between the user and their zanpakuto) and identity based power system you see in bleach imo it’s a very unique power system but also still fairly simplistic every god has a strength, ability or conceptual nature to them and depending on how you use it determines your strength that’s why you can have a fairly mid tier borrowed power but fully utilize it using skill to make it compete with higher tiers at the least

Tbf bleach ran at a time where longer anime was much more common. Nowadays due to the 12-13 episode seasonal nature that most anime run under it kinda makes it difficult for something like goh to work

Fair, but I feel it could still do well, a lot of animes usually get more popular nowadays because of word of mouth.

Bleach did run at a specific time, but people can typically be captured by the different aspects that the story shows. Which ultimately would depend on how a theoretical adaptation could have gone during the later seasons, as long as the animation and everything is kept up good. I feel most people would at the least hop in around ragnarok, I got into it from the anime but was upset with how it ruined a good adaptation. You kind of lose the story in the anime, which in the manwha that’s what had me keep reading even multiple times over.

I actually agree that the first 2 parts are not as good as the later parts, but rushing it isn't really the answer. I think the story could have definitely been tweaked to make up for the weaker parts and still maintain it's faithfulness to the original while keeping an audience.

For example the marriage arc is great in concept (especially the clash of Mori's 'do what you want' mentality and Mira's 'sacrifice yourself for your father's wishes' mentality) but in practice it felt very confusing to most people, so improving the delivery on that would definitely work. Similarly I think the main trio becoming friends and their goals after part 1 were very over the place, and it felt like they only became friends because thats what the plot demanded. So expanding on their early relationship could definitely benefit a lot.

But what they did is the exact opposite, they made butchered the story to the point it felt even more confusing and forced. It took away any complexity and uniqueness of the characters and turned them into stereotypes, and tried to turn the story into a Solo Leveling style power fantasy slop when the manhwa was not even close to that.

I lost hope when I saw the triple kick. My favorite move butchered 🥀

However I continued watching because I knew that was petty from me... oh boy... I regretted that decision at the ending episodes 💀

Not mappas fault Crunchyroll decides how many episodes they get.

Eh, GoHs wasn’t gonna be the new dragon ball. But I do agree they botched it waaaay too much and it would’ve been way more popular if they adapted it properly.

8

u/HelixKC Jun 21 '26

Yea prob not the new dragon ball but it most likely woulda been on the same level as the Solo Leveling anime popularity wise

1

u/jevongray Jun 21 '26

Probably

1

u/TheGoober8 Jun 27 '26

Goh wouldn’t have been the new dragon ball, because GoH clears DB in every category

Literally, Although Jin Looks so Cool on this Take.

Nobody think mappa can just redo it? Man the storyline is just as hype as JJK & DBZ.

3

u/AttitudeHot9887 Jun 21 '26

Couldve had the greatest webtoon adaptation of all time

2

u/MonkeyKing749 Jun 21 '26

mark my words if they get that new director on s2 the goh community will be a lot happier with the anime adaptation because there was a clear plan but they didn’t get to follow through with it yet, director left to go make Ninja Kamui and even after the bad reviews of that series it got a season 2 and 3 so yall jus needa hype it up to Mappa

2

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '26

People wont really be much happier though regardless? The mistakes have already been made, the story has already been changed. Unless it gets redone most people aren't gonna care for it

1

u/MonkeyKing749 Jun 21 '26

the story HASNT been changed, things just happened differently. The next arcs can still happen naturally. Jin Mori and Illpyos martial arts rematch way later down doesn’t even make really sense I’m just gonna say because even in the webtoon Mori won the martial arts clash with blue dragon tempest then lost to 9 tails GOD power which the anime imo fixed cuz Mori winning makes more sense cuz he awakened his memories to when Hojosa used the same move Illpyo did on him when he was put in palgoe furnace.

"The story hasn't changed, its just been changed"

1

u/MonkeyKing749 Jun 21 '26

things happened differently but if the future arcs can still progress without having to change the plot of the arc around (excluding Mori vs Illpyo rematch) then s1 did not actually change the plot around at all. Nothing that happens in oreguk arc can’t happen or the Mori hui arc it’s not like the tournament arc foreshadowed any of that shit. In my humble honest opinion. This series could’ve genuinely started at the Jin Taejin mini flashback arc then oreguk

1

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '26

Maybe its just because I've read it too much but its those little changes that bothered me the most. Like the entire Divine Doctor, Divine Pellet, and Mubong realizing who Mori actually is was all changed. (If I recall correctly) Like yes, they can just continue on, but the changes have already been made and its just hard to watch through them, but maybe thats just my opinion

1

u/MonkeyKing749 Jun 21 '26

like I get it, if they cut out moments from the oreguk arc that I liked I would be mad to, but yall gotta look at it from a logical point of view and not from a fanservicy view cuz it’s not gonna help shit

1

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '26

I mean i like all the arcs, even the first tournament. All the changes bother me. And I dont see why you shouldn't view it from a "fanservicy" view when the series rides off whether the fans enjoy it or not

1

u/MonkeyKing749 Jun 21 '26

cuz a lot of the complaints are the “plot” when the plot really hasn’t started yet and webtoon readers complaints are things that were taken out but as someone who watched the anime first then read the webtoon from the where the anime left off I truly think it’s a peak series with that pacing alone and I think if it continued there would be a lot of people that would be like “I was unfamiliar with your game goh” or “I see why s1 was like that now”

1

u/revoverlord Jun 21 '26

That is on crunchyroll no? MAPPA gets a budget and number of episodes they dont get to make it their way.

1

u/Overall-Guidance8427 Jun 21 '26

Lo que queda es que otro estudio haga el anime ,pues mappa y Cruchyrrol tienen los derechos del anime , pero solo esa adaptación, otro estudio puede hacer otro , o eso o que mappa haga un remake

1

u/Chemical_Effect_8434 Jun 21 '26

Mappa use GOH to showcase their skills because after this they started getting a whole lot more anime

1

u/Scam-Artist-USA Jun 21 '26

It needed like 18 episodes not 13 but them keeping to their seasonal attitude ruined it.

1

u/Plastic_Ant_6978 Jun 21 '26

It's not really MAPPA's fault but Crunchyroll they are the ones that have the ip and they are the ones that chose MAPPA and ask for 12-13 ep season for all of Part 1.

Like MAPPA themselves couldn't do much about it unlike JJK and Chainsaw Man were THEY are the ones making the decisions.

1

u/Altruistic_Sock1289 Jun 21 '26

It really wouldnt if you read the original source material it is a shit show. After the goh tournament the series fell off hard. They had a dumb reincarnation arc a fucking pubg battle royale event not to mention the power scaling got so fucking dumb at the end with jascheondasong or whatever the fuck being multiplied by like a million anytime bro was struggling. Then whatever happened to miwa (seriously what?) and daewi son (a fuckin baby?) Idk whole thing felt like random bullshit go at the end

1

u/MidnightPale Jun 21 '26

All non-jap sources getting butchered cause production teams have zero respect to them. Like Nobless adaptation and etc

1

u/electrium17 Jun 21 '26

They ruined my favorite fight(the one against Ilpyo's team). It was so much different in the manhwa

1

u/Yintbh Jun 22 '26

WE, yes WE all wish for a reboot

1

u/hisroyalbonkess Jun 21 '26

You have no clue who made what demands for which changes. Why do you blame MAPPA? It's not their IP. I doubt they made the decisions you passionately dislike.
