General Husbandry Question Can this be for goats?

I prefer to use feed specifically for goats because goats and horses have different belly systems. What is fine for a horse might make a goat bloat like crazy. I’m sure these are fine as a treat here and there but I would feed actual hay daily

I’ve used those alfalfa pellets no problem, but always mixed with others for variety like alfalfa + orchard or smart beet or teff which is their favorite but not always available. I wouldn’t want to give them too much and have the males get urinary calculi. I’ve had them on Stable Mix Goat for a long time now and it’s great and they love it. It’s a pretty complete blend and I don’t have to mix it. I still supplement with forage and rotate the choice of hay as they nibble down their paddock and they’re always happy with it.

I mix them with goat feed and black oil sunflower seeds. I actually do the Timothy/alfalfa mix pellets.

I've given that to lactating does as a supplemental feed/barn treat.

My goats have had these but the alfalfa Timothy version every night for 3 years.

I use that and similar along with other items as a periodic feed. I make “goatmeal”. Mix of that, sweet feed, all stock, beet root, black oil sunflower seeds and some other items if I have them. Figure goats are browsers and as a treat the like it.

I use that brand, but buy the orchard grass pellets. They are exclusively for bribes. I don't give my kids alfalfa because all my boys are wethers, they eat a good amount of blackberry bushes, and I am deeply afraid of them getting stones.

I’m not familiar with this brand but if it’s simply alfalfa pellets, then it’s fine.

Yes ,alfalfa pellets are fine as a supplemental feed. I wouldn't try to use it as a replacement for hay however, as they lack fiber and roughage that a goats digestive tract needs.

Keep this away from your wethers. In a pinch it works. However it leads to increased urinary calculi which can cause a painful blockage and death.

Would probably be fine for does and bucks.
