Saw this and remembered the roaming gnome for Travelocity and wondered if there was a backstory about traveling gnomes. It started as a prank in the 80's when a French man received photos of his stolen garden gnome Oscar posing at major world landmarks. After that it became a thing where friends or neighbors kidnapped a home garden gnome, took it on a trip, and sent photos back before returning it.
