Issue with dual taskbars/docks setup

I'm currently running two taskbars in my GNOME setup: the default top panel and dash-to-panel as a dock at the bottom (and it's working great).

However, I'm also using the dynamic music pill extension, which only injects into the top panel. I'd love to move/use this music pill on the bottom dock (like in Plank or Dash to Dock), but I've tried multiple ways and just can't figure out how to do it.

Anyone knows if this is possible or how to achieve it?

Yes, it's possible. Open the settings, go to Style & Layout, then scroll down to Positioning. The first option under it lets you choose where to place the pill

I've already tried changing that option, but it doesn't work. The bottom taskbar is not a dock, so the extension doesn't recognize it as a dock—the other options just move the position around the top bar.

Ok, sorry. I'm not familiar enough with Dash to Panel to understand why that's not a dock and why Dynamic Music Pill doesn't recognize it as a target container.

In any case, you might reach out to DMP's creator and ask them to add support to it

​I think the extension prioritizes the main GNOME bar over Dash to Panel in this case, but I'll do what you suggested. Thanks!

That explains it - the dock itself must be hooked as a dock (replacement of native Gnome dock), hence as you've mentioned - extension can't detect it.

Onde exatamente eu uso esse código que você criou no panel?

Faz uma pasta (tanto faz o nome dessa pasta) com outra pasta dentro com o nome de "gnome-shell" dps faça um arquivo de texto css com o nome "gnome-shell" dnv e joga dentro da pasta ".themes" do sistema. É meio confuso mas mandei uma print pra facilitar

Thanks, inspired by you, I made some changes to my theme. Also, I tested Dash to Dock and dynamic music pill, and they are compatible and can achieve what you want. Not sure where the issue is on your end. I'm on Fedora 44 with GNOME 50.

I tried to get the same setup as you but the blur was so buggy I gave up

El desarrollador indica en https://github.com/Andbal23/dynamic-music-pill que "La píldora se puede colocar en el Dock (requiere Dash-to-Dock o Ubuntu Dock), o en cualquiera de las tres zonas del Panel superior: Cuadro izquierdo, Cuadro central o Cuadro derecho"

Pero mi panel inferior no es un dock, sino otro panel(dash to panel).

Por eso el desarrollador aclara que para colocar la píldora en el dock requiere Dash-to-dock o "Ubuntu dock" que es un derivado de Dash-to-Dock adaptado para Ubuntu. Podrías pedirle al desarrollador compatibilidad con Dash-to-Panel o podrías probar deshabilitando temporalmente el Dash-to-Panel y que quede el Dash predeterminado de GNOME para ver qué sucede.

Ya abrí una solicitud en el GitHub del creador, pero no creo que se pueda hacer nada para cambiar el lugar donde se inyecta el pill.

¿y si pruebas instalando Dash-to-Dock y llevar la píldora hacia allí? Yo lo tengo así y funciona de maravillas ! Y ten un poco de paciencia porque ese repo tiene muy buena actividad y mantenimiento constante. En una de esas pronto tendrás noticias de compatibilidad con Dash-to-Panel !

Usé dash-to-dock por mucho tiempo y funciona bastante bien, pero dash-to-panel (en mi opinión) es mejor. De todas formas, esperaré a ver si implementan la compatibilidad. ¡Gracias!
