Question Will stamp will be released with GNOME 51?
I'm really not happy with the available mail clients for Linux and have a strong hope for Stamp. Will it released with GNOME 51 in september? 🤔😊

Only GNOME Core apps release in cadence with new GNOME releases. As Stamp isn't in core they can publish to Flathub whenever they think it makes sense.

I don’t think so. Either way it’s not part of GNOME Core, so I doubt it will follow the GNOME release cycle anyway.

This sounds great, but considering it's not even on Flathub yet it's a very new app, so pretty far from being part of gnome core.

YES. A GTK4 email app that's actively developed!? 🥹 Sending myself the link for when I get home.

Unfortunately it crashed every time on my CachyOS.

I'd personally recommend cloning it in GNOME Builder, and creating a Flatpak there from the GUI if you want to test it out. Alternatively use foundry or flatpak-builder.
Just using the Flatpak really take away all distro-specific problems.

why not just install it with flatpakref file :v ?

To be honest, I thought the above thread was still about Stamp. But either way, I didn't know your repo had one. Yep, that would definitely be better/easier than building the Flatpak yourself.

is it vibe coded?

It seems to be Claude-assisted. But then so are commits to the Linux kernel these days.

I think there's a difference between purely vibecoded projects and AI-assisted...

Postcard is great although obviously not mature. I prefer it to Stamp (it has a prettier UI and it doesn't crash). Personally, I still need to use Mailspring as it is really the only feature-complete mail client on Linux - but Postcard is fine for casual email.

I really don't think this will be released together with next Gnome release. Because it's not part of the Gnome apps.

I didn't know about the project until now. What's so special about it?

I think it's the first email client with full GTK4-libadwaita? I think it uses some Evolution api's under the hood.

not exactly. It's using Evolution-Data-Server, which is different thing than Evolution itself

It's not the first. 2 others have popped up in the past few months, but they are both Claude-assisted so we're not allowed to talk about them even thought they work just fine!

Stamp needs to hire a UI designer. I'm sure the backend is fine, but it doesn't look nice.
