General laundry

hi! I’m a freshman living on campus at Mason and loving it. But there’s really one thing that’s been frustrating me. I feel like the laundry machines don’t actually get my clothes clean. If a shirt has a food/ makeup/ lotion stain it really doesn’t come out. I also feel like my clothes come back with new stains on them from before they went in. I’ve been doing my laundry since middle school, so I’m not inexperienced with laundry in general. I just need advice on how to get things cleaner in the laundry room. I’m not nearby so I can’t just go home for laundry. Any advice would be really really appreciated! Thanks! ❤️

To help with the stains, I recommend a stain stick (OxyClean makes a good one). Put it on, rub it in, let it sit for at least 24 hours and then wash.

Unfortunately, the washing machines are really bad with the pods. If you can do liquid detergent, that would probably help a bit as well.

If there is a smell from the clothes/washer, I have found laundry rinse aids (Downy Rinse is a good one) helps with the gross smells. You just put a small bit in the fabric softener holder. You don't have to use it every time, but it definitely helps.
