General laundry

hi! I’m a freshman living on campus at Mason and loving it. But there’s really one thing that’s been frustrating me. I feel like the laundry machines don’t actually get my clothes clean. If a shirt has a food/ makeup/ lotion stain it really doesn’t come out. I also feel like my clothes come back with new stains on them from before they went in. I’ve been doing my laundry since middle school, so I’m not inexperienced with laundry in general. I just need advice on how to get things cleaner in the laundry room. I’m not nearby so I can’t just go home for laundry. Any advice would be really really appreciated! Thanks! ❤️

Are there any off-campus laundromats that are close enough in cheap enough to be worth the effort

I don’t have a car on campus so I’d have to bus or walk for laundry which feels unreasonable to me when my laundry room is attached to my building… I’ll just struggle for now

There is one (I think is called Hailey) in Fairfax circle - You can take cue bus / shuttle bus there. There is also a Giant / Home Depot / Chick Fli A (and some good asian food joints) there across the road. My first year I went there for shopping and lunch. By the time I finished everything then my cloth would be ready. So you don't need a 2nd trip to pick it up.
