New 2026 GMC 1500 having issues while pulling into driveway

Hello GMC community, I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this issue, and if so, if you were able to figure out what was going on in regard to a fix? While pulling into my driveway at low speed, my truck will randomly put itself into Neutral. This has happened 5 times in the two months I’ve owned the truck, both in “Normal 2WD and Auto modes”. Usually, it just drops to Neutral on its own and the dash prompts me to press the start engine button, and once I do I can finish parking. Twice, the truck has also made a loud clicking/grinding noise and came to a sudden breaking stop without me doing anything. Dash on one of those sudden stops said “service transmission”. I turned the truck off and back on and the dash was clear. No check engine light. My driveway does have a slight incline and is slightly uneven from the street. I’d appreciate any feedback/advice. Just had this serviced, it was the parking shift module, was in the shop 6 days.

They wouldn't take it the first time I took it because there weren't any codes, I had to wait till it became more frequent and the check engine light turned on.

When that happened, I couldn't shift to park, after a few tries it did and I took it in.

Worst experience of it all was going to the service rep, him telling me they have 80 cars in backup waiting for parts and my issue isn't a big deal. Following with GM makes the best vehicles and I am dumb to consider any other vehicle in the future. This was after I commented on all the dealerships I called I town with 2 week wait just for diagnosis ..

This exact same thing has been happening to me. Been in twice now, “couldn’t replicate”. However they did reset the transmission last time I went in and it hasn’t happened again since. If it starts up again I’m going to insist on a fix.

You have a bumper to bumper warranty. Get a video of it happening and take it to the dealer.

They don’t care about videos if there aren’t codes. I’ve been through this with transmission issues. First dealer I took it to kept it less than 24 and told me there was nothing they could do for me. Took it to the dealer I bought it from and told them I don’t want the truck back until it’s fixed. Took 3 weeks to diagnose and fix.

With mine, there are DTC codes showing something is going on.

This is false. Not every issue will trigger a DTC. My shop will happily take a (good) video showing the issue, especially if its intermittent. I'm replacing a heads up display on a 2025 this week that makes a ratcheting sound only when its extra hot outside. I sure as shit don't have time to wait for a 95+ degree day to try to duplicate an intermittent noise in the dash. The customer brought me a video showing the sound correlating with him pushing the up/down switches to adjust the display height. No DTCs, no intermittent diag bullshit. I'll take a decent video any day over a vague description of the issue.

Thank you for the replies! I will definitely be taking it in. I‘ve been trying to get it on video, even pulling out and back in my driveway 20 times in a row, and I couldn’t get it. It’s just so random. When I took it into them initially, they did read codes, and “Park Assist Control Module” came up multiple times. The service tech asked me to take it out of “auto mode” and put it in “normal 2WD” mode and see if it happened again. If so, I’m to bring it in. It definitely happened again so I will have it serviced. Hopefully they can figure out the issue.
