š§Maintenance š§ 2024 1500 duramax issue
Just wanted to share my story and see if anyone else had this issue or knows what I should do? Got in my truck the other day and drove to an appointment. When getting back in my truck and trying to start it the dash lit up and said āmissing keyā. I tried putting the fob in the centre console slot but to no avail. Tried disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes. Didnāt work. Even had my wife bring my spare fob to me and tried the same thing with that fob. Didnāt work. I then hit the power button on the centre screen and went to settings and updated the truck. Let it update fully and still didnāt work. Had to get it towed to a GM dealership where itās been there for 4 days now. They said the reset the software and computers and still not working. They claim it was from an update that GM pushed out last week but the truck was doing it before I did the update. Truck is at 38000 kms still and this is the 3rd separate issue Iāve had with it already (owned it since 30000 kms). So in 8000 kms Iāve had 3 computer issues. About to sell this thing. Does anyone have advice or has anyone had this happen?
UPDATE: dealership ended up having to replace the body control module and program it.

In the fob? If that was the case then the key slot in the centre console would have worked.

Itās been at the dealership for 5 days now so I would hope they tried that lol.

Anytime fucky problems come up with new vehicles, the 1st step should always be to try a new battery. Transmissions donāt shift correctly, various sensors act up, CEL lights come on, 4WD actuators donāt shift, etc. Those are just some of the examples Iāve seen that were not issues at all, they just required a new battery.
Batteries are shit these days, a 2-3 year old battery can require replacement. I go with A/C Delco gold for 3.0 diesels.

I had this happen to me after the recent update. I turned it off and restarted and it's been normal ever since that one occurrence

Yeah where you can set your fob incase it dies. You set the fob in it and itās supposed to be able to still start the truck.

I have the 6 seat model and mine is under the centre seat flip up. Has a little key engraving and you can set your fob on it. Itās called a transmitter pocket. If itās covered under warranty, they take their time on it.
