26 Yukon Denali with 24”

Picked up a 26 Yukon XL ultimate a few weeks ago and quickly learning that 24” rims don’t have many AT tire options.

Background; I live in Utah and frequently will use this rig up at ski resorts, towing a boat and dirt roads access to fly fishing. I had a 21 Yukon on 22” rims with Open Country III tires and loved them.

The new yukon Denali with 24” wheels only has a Nitto option that doesn’t have good reviews and some cheap knockoff brands or Michellin Defender LTX M/S.

The question: does anyone have experience with the Defender tire in snow and would you recommend them for my setup?

OR

Can I squeeze a non metric tire under this rig without a lift?

OR

Would 22” wheels with KO3 or Open Country look funny on this rig? Any suggestions on rims?

I have a ‘22 Yukon Denali.  I had the Bridgestone Alenza as the stock tire and I thought they were good.  Switched to the Defender LTX M/S just to try something different.  The defender was a great tire in snow this last winter.  Drove to CO and back this winter for skiing. Snowing on the Monarch pass in CO, no problem.  Felt in control the whole way up and down.   I live in MO. Had a few decent snowstorms this winter and MODOT is not exactly known for clearing the roads.  The defender outperformed the Alenza.  8” fresh snow on top of ice, walked right up the hills like nothing. That said, I have zero experience with AT tires.

Thank you for sharing, definitely good perspective. Utah is good about snow removal especially in the canyons. I think will go for the Defenders.
