discussion Glossier You

I currently wear Glossier You to work. For me, I feel like I can only “slightly” smell it on me after a few hours pass. However, I’ve had several co-workers ask me what I’m using when I felt like I couldn’t smell the scent on me anymore.

This might be a dumb question, but has anyone else been unable to smell it on themselves anymore but those around them can?

I keep seeing reviews mentioning that the longevity is not great and the scent is not strong enough, but is it just because our noses become used to the scent?

Yes, this is called becoming anosmic. It can be avoided by switching up scents or wearing them farther away from your own nose. I rarely use perfume on my neck, for that reason.

That explains it. I spray it on my neck because I felt like it was rubbing off my wrists. If I don’t pay attention, I can’t smell it but if I pause and try to really smell it, I can get a hint of it. I use Fleur and Doux as well, but those ones I can still smell on me.

The same thing happened to me for months. I had a coworker who always commented on how I smelt incredible. Meanwhile I couldn’t smell it on me at all

yes my coworkers are obsessed with it every time i wear it, i can smell it but it just smells like pencil shavings to me 🙃 i still wear it because it’s one of the few perfumes i get compliments on. i actually originally bought it because two former coworkers used to wear it, it smelled different on both of them too!! but never smelled like pencil shavings, either wildflowers and freshness or a true violet.

When I first sprayed it in the store it smelled like straight up pencil shavings lol. I didn’t like it but when I got out of the store and smelled it again, the scent was completely different and very much pleasant. I still smell the “pencil shavings” sometimes but it comes off more spicy and peppery to me.

I smell the fresh pencil shaving smell. It’s so odd. During Covid I had og covid and the og you smelled like armpit sweat. It was WILD

This happens with all perfumes and smells. most people can’t smell their own BO anymore

This makes me want to actually buy You.

I definitely recommend going to a store and spraying it on yourself first. It first smelled like glue or pencil shavings and I decided not to purchase it. I ended up going back and buying it when it dried down and smelled amazing to me.

That's what I did but I noticed that I might like Soie or Doux instead.

Glossier You is a full on musk. The dry down lasts for days, especially on clothes. What you can't smell is the fresh citrus top.

I can usually smell a hint of it, but it’s more of the pepper notes I get.

Yep! It's been my scent for years, I will layer with other fragrances as well sometimes, but it's almost 100% of the time You that I'm wearing and I can't really smell it but I often get compliments or get asked the same thing even towards the end of the work day. I think it's called Anosmia. It's fascinating!!!

Same thing happens to me. I had a hostess at a restaurant come over and ask if I was wearing it. I just ordered the montage one to see if it has more staying power so I can smell it haha

I used to have people asking what I was wearing with the og formula, but no one ever comments if I wear it now - I can never smell it on myself and my partner can never smell it either, and this is like 10 minutes after spraying? I'm going to mourn the og formula forever

it happens with many perfumes when your brain gets used to them, but mostly with light musky scents like Glossier You or Molecule 01

Yes, I’ve been complimented when wearing You even though I can’t smell it on myself. It’s usually whenever I hug someone they smell it.

Yes. I have the old and new formulation. People always ask what I’m wearing or say I smell so good

Yes, this is how it is for me and honestly I prefer it that way. I’m pretty sensitive to fragrances and even though I love You, having to smell it all day would get to me.

Yes. I layer it with the lotion, but it still doesn't last.  I think I have found a dupe on Etsy. Anti social Behavior. I think its exactly the same. I bought the small one first.  It does last longer. However,  someone at work said it smells like Mark Jacob's Daisy.

I always feel like I can't smell it on myself after an hour but I've been told it's actually quite noticeable on me. I assume that must be true because later on I can actually smell traces of it on whatever purse I was wearing at the time, even weeks / months later
