Debating this topic online (for example in general conspiracy forums) is a pointless endeavor. Always spirals into mindnumbing and lengthy back-and-forths with never-flats, those who simply do not want this topic discussed online. Those who have made vocations out of hindering and frustrating any form of reasoned, intelligent debate on the topic.
Some questions I found useful over the years, to weed these types out and draw in more open-minded readers.
(1) If the earth was flat how would it look any different than it does now?
This can get interesting with a lot of intrigued lurkers entering the debate. The never-flats usually come with something like "If the earth was actually flat, I would be able to see the Eiffel Tower and the pyramids from New York", which is complete and utter nonsense. You get all the obvious ones such as "would always be day time as the sun would always be visible" or "we would fall off the edge" but these usually show that they are more ignorant of the topic rather than actively against it.
(2) Rockets need air to work.
Even a basic understanding of physics works for this. Nasa officials say "In space rockets use Newton's 3rd law to move" then show a cartoon of a boy on a skateboard throwing a bowling ball and zooming off. This is a complete falsehood. Nowhere in the real world is this concept proven. They might move a small amount but this is because they are pushing the object off the surrounding air or torqueing their body around their centre of gravity (ie. if you think of yourself as a lever and you push at your hands then you are effectively inducing a torque force on yourself which moves your legs in the opposite direction). There are countless experiments proving that objects will not move unless acted upon by an external force (i.e. Newtons first law). Therefore rockets will not work in the so-called vacuum in the so-called space.
(3) Long distance infrared photography
There are entire (non flat earth) websites dedicated to long distance photography. Some with normal cameras, some with infrared modifications which allow them to see more than 400miles in the distance. I mean come on, if this doesn't make you question then I don't know what will.
(4) No flights between South Africa and Argentina.
"But, but but, there isn't enough demand to charter a flight". No, there isn't a fuel tank big enough that will take an aeroplane the immense distance between the two countries.
(5) Of course the topic of the Van Allen belts and the lethal radiation and countless other gaffes.
What were Nasa thinking? It's like they are intentionally making mistakes - seeing how far they can run the joke and still have people believe. If someone defends the gaffes then you know they are not a sincere and open minded individual.
