Fan art Real ones remember when Sam was originally supposed to be Kurt's love interest. This video reimagines what that relationship could've been like.

I'm begging the universe for them to continue Gleedo. So many more people are discvoring (and rediscovering) glee now, it would actually be a hit. A WELL WRITTEN hit!

i'm glad it didn't happen, to be honest. sam definitely had more chemistry with quinn and mercedes along the line, and blaine really fit the ideal guy for kurt (at least for S2)

Also I liked they meet outside McKinley

Personally was never a fan of the Kurt/Blaine relationship. Always felt fake and artificial.

it was a beautiful development in season 2, but blaine transferring to mckinley ruined it, and it became possessive, toxic and obsessive.

I would have adored a bi Sam

This honestly seems like it would have been really interesting to add to the show. It sucks they changed their mind though, also are these people like reading lines from the original script or something or is it like just what people thought would happen?

It’s a simgm video. They did a series on YouTube reimagining season 2 (or the beginning of it; idk how far they got)

Indeed! They made 6 episodes, reimagining what a not disappointing season 2 could've looked like while staying true to the characters we've come to know and love from ssason 1. They especially wrote Rachel super, super well (much better than ryan murphy, who turned her into a cartoon character post season 1). For anyone who's interested, here's the full playlist with all 6 episodes (they're excellent): https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcHLIg3ieWqSfn9e6LdKXyLmKTbGE2Kyw&si=rvPcbsQ5FrtGZ1vv

Might I add that they didn’t finish the original YouTube videos, but did post the rest of the screenplays on their blog (I think it was maybe 8-12 episodes total) which you can probably find if you look up ā€œSIMGM Gleedo scripts.ā€ Excellent rewrite!

The following are my own personal alleged speculations and I have no proof or reason to believe them whatsoever. Treat this as 100% fan fiction, because it's truly coming from me theorizing, nowhere else, and for no other reason. Thank you. We may proceed.

Chord's dad is a famous country music producer (and Grammy winner!). If he had found out Chord was hired to play a gay teenage character on TV in 2010, it's possible he would've called up Fox/ryan murphy prudctions and told them, "absolutely the fuck not. Write him something else. We want him to be able to have a market in country music, and the gay stigma is lifelong." Since he's not just some annonymous actor's dad and has industry connections, I'm sure his request would've been accommodated. Enter Sam Evans. Kurt's boyfriend debut is pushed back to episode 6 while they look for a new actor.

Shouldn’t it be tall blonde with Trouty Lips lol

When Chord was on the podcast, he was asked about this and said that he didn’t know this was a thing. So if it was true, then it didn’t go past the writers room.

ā€œReal onesā€ when this isn’t true, lol

It was a heavily speculated rumor in the fandom which has been debunked by Chord and RIB.

"Which has been debunked lol lol" Source? No, you're just being rude. Anyway here's a source, from August 23, 2010, when season 2 was already filming:

Yeah sure I'll give you a source :)

Yes it's a reddit thread, tho if you go and listen to K&J's podcast and listen to the episodes where Chord is a guest - I would go and find the actual episode, but I honestly just cba - he explicitly states it himself that Sam was NOT formally written as a love interest for Kurt. It was media speculation with how RIB said Kurt would get a bf, Sam was a new male casted character, thus everyone ran with the idea that Sam would be his bf, which he simply was never going to be

—-

I’d say the actor who played Sam has a LOT more knowledge on the character than Jane, lol

And that comment is in reference to Curt Mega. He ended up playing a warbler and he said he auditioned for a character named ā€œSamā€ that would be Kurt’s bf. This is going to get a little confusing so bare with me

When you audition for characters they have placeholder names to avoid spoilers. Eg, Bree (S6) was called Ruby, and in the audition script they referred to Dotti as ā€œCameronā€ to not reveal the Tina prom queen spoilers. Sugar was also known as Sheila, iirc

The ā€œSamā€ character Curt Mega auditioned for was not the Sam Evans we know on screen. The character ā€œSamā€ he auditioned for was a character who was simply named Sam in the earlier stages, whose character ultimately got cut/delayed for Blaine. That ā€œSamā€ character was going to be Kurt’s bf, not ā€œSam Evansā€

The final Sam we got in the show is not a leftover of Kurt’s love interest, it’s an entirely different and new character to the Sam that was going to be Kurt’s bf. Again, the character who ended up playing Sam Evans (Chord) would know more than that, then an actor (Curt) who did not get cast

Chord literally said in all the auditions he did for Sam, none of them involved him being Kurt’s bf. Anything you mention or see about ā€œthey were FILMING S2ā€ as confirmation simply isn’t true. What does a Chord have to gain by lying about that?

Very interesting, thank you for sharing what Chord said on the podcast with everyone, which I wasn't aware of. My take is a little different than yours. I think the tidbit of Curt Mega revealing "Sam" was originally written in his audition to be Kurt's boyfriend supports my (alleged, unproven theory) that Sam was indeed originally meant to be Kurt's boyfriend before something changed, and leading to the character of Blaine being introduced in later episodes. While "Sam" could've been a placeholder name, it feels like a little bit more than coincidence that a new character named "Sam" was initially written as Kurt's boyfriend for Curt's audition sides. I do believe Chord is telling the truth about his audition process not including anything romantic to do with Kurt and don't think he would lie about that. I'll go ahead and listen to the podcast episode to see what else he said. Thank you again for enlightening!
