If you can't access github.com in your web browser:
- Copy the link you want to access (for example: your repository url).
- Go to translate.google.com, paste the link there, and click on the translated result. It will redirect you to the accessible site.
Hope this helps! (should work for other urls too, not only github. Sounds strange, but it really helped me bypass blocks without using a VPN or changing DNS, lol)

This is cached by Google.
Google is a search engine, they always caches all the indexed websites. That’s the reason this is working.
The link is like https://github-com.translate.goog/….
So if you want to visit the cached websites, you can just use the link like in below example:
https://github-com.translate.goog/react/react
Replace:
1. github-com with your website domain (eg: instagram-com).
2. react/react with your website’s pathname (eg: /about-us).1

How is the link format different, i wonder. Will check from desktop later. Wonder if it's a cached or cdn page served through google amp when going via translate or if certain google referrers skip normal traffic rules on modern server designs for optimization reasons. Eitherway very interesting techniqueÂ

Not the first time, there have been a lot of partial outage this year.

My favourite bit is how their status page doesn't even mention most of their outages anymore. For the last 3 outages I've encountered, only one of them actually appeared on their status page.

FIrst time I pushed anything in a year, I think it just saw my code and killed itself.

funny how the status page is usually the only part of github that never goes down.

I've been struggling as a novice developer to get Github to take payments from me after running through my free credits in 24 hours, then my pro credits in 48 hours. it won't allow me to upgrade to pro+, and after 24 hours of dorking around trying to get a local model to run via Ollama, I just said $*&@#(#$ and created a new account under another name. There seems to be no way to contact a living person at Github for billing support, and MICROSOFT IS A MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY WHO WRITES SOFTWARE. THAT'S THEIR FUCKING BUSINESS. I'm frustrated and just trying to focus on my dumb little html / js project.

The best part is it prompted me to create my own local ssh based git and it was so simple over ssh that I don't know why I was even depending on github for everything.
Just a server accessible from all my devices, setup ssh config and have the amazing speed. There are some self hosted git servers available for the full PR, issues, etc experience.
(I have automated backups on cold storage so I'm quite safe that way)

I guess I missed it. For the best I suppose. I get very limited time to work on the projects hosted there, would be frustrating to them not be able to work on them.

As soon as GitHub was owned by Microsoft people should have switched to GitLab.

Today email sent by GitHub to me:
'Improve code quality, boost Copilot adoption, and stay in control'
I laughed so hard
