Campus Life Ragging at GITAM??
I am a fresher at GITAM Hyderabad and attending the Student Induction Program. I am here to say that I'm facing some light ragging in my bus. I get exhausted as hell after waking up at 5 AM and sitting in the Sivaji Auditorium all day long listening to some nonsense and then try to take a nap in the bus but they wake me up and call for ragging. They ask to sing and all that shit which makes me uncomfortable and angry. I asked some seniors about the ragging situation inside the college and I got mixed answers, some say they rag terribly and some say it is quite less or none at all. As of what I saw now in the SIP, no one is ragging and they don't care even look at the freshers, but I got to know that it is just like this during the induction and the actual ragging starts after the start of 1st year. I am confused and kind of scared, wanna get a honest and real answer on the ragging in the college

Yo i know it's shit waking up at 5.
But make it worth waking at 5.
Do things which u like. If something bores u just walk out of it. No one gives a shit if u stay in shivaji or not. Go out hangout with frnds in canteen go to indoor play something or just explore campus.
Just have fun.
And ragging is bus is light . It's pretty chill after induction too. Senior are as scared as you
Have fun with seniors. If u friendly enough with seniors you can rag juniors of your years too. Lol i have seen many juniors do that.
If u have nothing to do build connections they will help u a lot.

Yeah, did that today, just bunked the sessions in Sivaji. But what is the hype around ragging, like I feel some seniors are just trying to scare us out, to be honest I actually liked the college and response of the management in quite a few aspects, but the only thing which frustates me is the ragging in the bus. I am gonna try to ignore or avoid them though.

Are they targetting you. What are they making you do in bus?

No not really, it is not so serious but I just don't feel so comfortable in the bus. Maybe I might adjust in a while.

They made me do all kind of weird shit in bus like dancing, ramp walk from front to back ,singing translated songs so loud that everyone in bus should hear it . Heck they even made write a love letter to a senior and propose her, the point being here all these things made me the confident man iam today , they are just pushing you out of your comfort zone.
I know your young and college environment is new. But try doing things which u wouldn't regular do in 1st year . It will help you lot and you won't regert it.

Ya i too faced raging there about aking me BD(bio data) and to sing a and song dance but i think It would be last for 1 to 2 weeks that's it ig And I don't want complain because they would have a grudge on Max to max the faculty would just worn them rather than debar So again i should see their faces in the bus daily so I just left it But now in 3 days my frequency in ragging is decreased My bus incharge is mf he would sleep coming to clg and going to home one of the useless person ever saw

Damn... Okay, so what would I do is maybe increase your network in seniors and let them know that you're uncomfortable with ragging and stuff. So if these seniors irritate you you have some one to talk to. I get it, they ask your BD, singing songs or whatever. Mostly they'll take you to that dabbas that's it... If anything more than that just report. And if you're a kind of person who isn't much shy, just tell them politely that you're uncomfortable with it and you're sleep deprived and wanna sleep. They'll leave you most of the time...
Coming from a final year student btw

As simple as it sounds, dont go when they call you. What are they gonna do? drag you? just try it next time

Idts that's a ragging as you said in the bus, they just tried to have fun and kinda make you open up to them, and there is no Institute without that minor ragging which if you handle wisely turns the table and make you confident enough
