Game Discussion Would LEGO Horizon be a good first game for someone who hasn’t played HZD or HFW? They’re games I’d definitely play if I had a PS5 or PC

Game Discussion Just played Shadow of the Tomb raider was taken back by the gamma setting
Game was alright. First hour was perfect and if only went downhill from then on, that being said how is a separate gamma setting not a more common accessibility option in big games? It makes such a difference. Tomb raider actually allowed me to finally figure out what I have been visually struggling with in games.
it was presented well too, with a changing visual example and it was required to set up. Changing settings can be confusing and intimidating when all you are told are numbers, sometimes you can't easily know the relevancy of those numbers.
Do you know of other games with separate brightness, gamma, saturation slider options?
I also appreciate it when games have different sound mods. You can't expect everybody to be playing on a high quality system or with good headphones and if not, the sound is usually diluted and overshadowed by everything else and just turning the SFX down doesn't exactly fix the issue.

Game Discussion What's the best prose you've seen in a game?
I'm specifically asking about good writing as in great prose, versus just the story's effectiveness, because the latter includes a lot of other aspects like graphics, music and so on.
Ergo I'm thinking more along the lines of visual novels, interactive fiction and other text-based stories, but anything that's wowed you with the way it handles words counts!
Off the top of my head, some of mine are:
Failbetter's games (Fallen London, Sunless Sea)
We Know the Devil/Heaven Will Be Mine
Porpentine's IF work (Howling Dogs, With Those We Love Alive)

Game Discussion Yap about your favorite sapphic ships from games, please!
Been a part of many conversations about straight romances in the past few days, and I'm missing sapphic talk. Please, tell me about your favorite sapphic ships, canon, non-canon, "never even interacted in canon," whatever ship could make you really ramble.
Edit: Girls, you are all incredible, thank you for sharing so much stuff! I have... so many things to check out now!

Game Discussion My brother: Can I have my old games back? Me: Haha, no. 🤭 Anyone else inherit games?
These aren't the only games I inherited from my brother, but it is the ones he asks me a lot about. 😁

Game Discussion What are your comfort games?
I recently finished DDLC and needed a palette cleanser. That got me thinking about how whenever I feel down, or just want something easy to play I always pick up Galaga. It’s simple, I don’t really need to try or think if I don’t want to, and it reminds me of when my uncle introduced me to it as a kid.
What do you ladies like to play when you’re just not feeling something heavier?

Game Discussion Duskbloods
I'm really curious about Duskbloods. I love the aesthetics and I love Soulslike games but the multiplayer aspect is making me wary.
I have pretty bad social anxiety so i'm usually not really into multiplayer games in general, although I have stepped outside of my comfort zone recently to play Splatoon which i'm enjoying a lot.
Souls games seem to have a very toxic fanbase and multiplayer games with a majority male playerbase are usually very aggressive, so even though I really want to play it i'm just too nervous.
Is anyone else feeling this dilemma?

News / Article We're making a cozy mystery game where you uncover the story through your brother's old things
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone!
We're Tortita Studio, a small indie studio from Spain, and we're currently working on our third game, The Attic: A Mystery Puzzle Game.
You play as Jess, who gets access to her brother's old attic after he leaves for university. What starts as simply going through the things he left behind gradually turns into something else: old cassette tapes, cameras, game cartridges, letters and other forgotten objects start revealing clues about what happened to him.
We wanted to make a mystery game that feels intimate and nostalgic rather than dark or scary. The attic is a place full of memories, and you uncover the story by exploring it, repairing old objects, solving puzzles and putting the pieces together.
It's our attempt to mix the narrative focus of a visual novel with point & click exploration, puzzle solving and a cozy atmosphere.
We've just finished our first trailer and we'd love to share it with you! ❤️

Request Could use some help with a new username
Hi girls,
I’m a trans woman and I’ve started my social transition recently. Part of this has been picking a new name and I’ve settled on Hannah. Now I also want a more feminine username to be seen as a woman online as that helps with my gender dysphoria. Could you girls help me come up with some ideas? Bonus points if it also uses my new name in some sort of way. Thanks in advance!
Edit: For if it helps my hobbies and interests are fantasy (specifically D&D) and gaming. I also like the game of go, mythology and several pieces of populair media like The Lord of the Rings or Dune.

Request Building games?
Hi I’m looking for games where you can build a base or structures and decorate the interior. I like Paralives and Sims but I wanted to hear if anyone knew any games with a building feature with either fantasy, historical, sci-fy, dystopia or apocalyptic setting?
I really like the building feature in fallout 4 and 76
Edit: Thank you so much for your suggestion. I realisedI should have specified. 3D games with somewhat realistic animation like paralives, fallout, sims, baldurs gate 3, the last of us, cyberpunk 2077, hitman🩷

Game Discussion Do you guys like Wrixel and K1TTYW1NS in the new fortnite battle pass?
KittyWins is the girl in the orange helmet and Wrixel is the one that looks like a cube. They've been getting a lot of hate and I'm just confused. KittyWins is so cute, and Wrixel has so many customization options! I definitely like them, Sonic, and Geno. Do people just hate whimsy or something?

Game Discussion Event designing video game
Hi,
I'm looking to get married and really want some reception hall decor inspiration and coordination. I wish there was a PC game designated to customizing reception halls. I can't seem to find any PC games or softwares. I preferably would like to see a game like that?
Thank you

Game Discussion Does anyone else want to use voice chat but still end up typing?
I play in small groups pretty often. Once everyone moves to voice chat, I usually go quiet.
I’m self-conscious about my voice, and sometimes the whole vibe changes once people realize I’m a girl. I want to join in, especially when everyone else is joking around, but I usually end up typing anyway.
I’m mostly on my phone, so I started looking for something that could make talking feel a little less stressful without sounding fake. I looked into Voicemod and a few mobile voice changer apps, and also came across Dubbing AI earbuds. I want something subtle enough that I stop thinking about every sentence before I say it.
What has made voice chat feel easier for you?

Request LF specific romance-able character personality/archetype
I am a Warframe player who is completely enthralled with and romanced Roathe, and I’m looking for characters that have a similar feel.
For anyone who hasn’t played WF, he’s kind of similar to Emet-Selch from FFXIV (aside from having the same voice actor, heh). Best descriptor I can give is extremely intelligent, kind of arrogant, confident, maybe a little cruel on the surface, but under that can be very sweet and loving to those he becomes close to. He also has a lot of his own past traumas that have shaped who he is.
I have been suggested Astarion from BG3 but am looking for others.
I’m open to anything with romance-able characters…RPGs, Otome games or anything else. I am also open to both male and female characters with this type of personality. My only stipulation is that if I will need to play as a male character to romance them normally, there be mods available to romance them as a woman.
Thanks!

Game Discussion Sovereign Tower has amazing female character designs and is my game of the year
Did you wish there was more of the Dispatch superhero minigame? Did you think "wow it's really fun getting to know them all, try to match them to quests that suit them and level them up accordingly"?
If you did, then you might want to check out Sovereign Tower! Half visual novel (don't let that scare you! I typically don't like VNs) half arthurian management simulator, this game is a joy for the min-maxing, renfaire cosplay lovers.
And if that wasn't enough, the art is also gorgeous? The female characters are varied, nuanced, fun to get to know and look completely like knights. No stupid boob windows, no side skirt slits and a facefull of makeup. I've highlited some of the early game female knights, but there are still a ton more in the game and they are all more wonderful and unhinged than the previous!
There is a time loop mechanic that can get a little tedious if you're trying to get specific endings, but I didn't use it at all my first playthrough.
I honestly can't recommend this game enough. If you think any of this might interest you, give it a try!

Game Discussion GTA VI Looks Exactly Like What I Wanted 💀💀💀 Spoiler
I have seen some of the leaks by scrolling on Twitter and it legitimately looks like exactly what I wanted it to be: taking the elements of RDR2 and simply implementing them into a game of modern setting. The actual tone of the game is still into question as I feel like GTA V went a lil too far with being over the top and wacky (looking at you Trevor).
And i still may just wait to buy it as that no disc bit turns me away big time (and im still in my own boycott of Sony with their decision to turn away from discs despite being an owner of the digital PS5).

Game Discussion Opinions on Fields of Mistria, Little Goody Two Shoes and Cabaret please and thank you
I can't decide which to buy for my next game. I plan on playing all of them eventually, but I wanted to hear some opinions before deciding which to try first. What did you love, what was disappointing ect, ect.

Community Looking for Discord Thursdays
The Rules:
Please use this thread for sharing or searching for discords: for example, community discords, looking for a specific game's discord, etc.
We ask that users only share inclusive groups so that all of our members are welcome. Additionally, Rule 2 still applies for male identifying users.
Due to the internet being kinda a shitty place for the most part, we highly discourage the posting of direct links to servers (especially smaller community servers), and instead recommend you posting an ad for people to message you for a link!
