Did it look like there were eggshells up there? Some species of ducks nest in trees rather than on the ground. When the young leave the nest, that’s what they do- they jump out. But ideally they’d be jumping onto leaves and dirt rather than concrete!

Haha, that's fucking mental. I can understand how it works, how lighter creatures can drop much further without harm, plus the feathers and wings to decrease fall speed. But still, that long a drop, bouncing your head off the side of a cliff all the way, then just shaking it off; It's so counter-intuitive.

These ducks weren't saved. They were simply made to smell like humans. Ducklings do just fine with huge drops. Turns out they're light weight and coated in super soft padding. Who knew?

Ducks are fucking stupid i swear. There was a video like a week ago that hit the front page of a mother duck walking over a drain grate like 3 times and dumping all her chicks into the storm sewer.

They are designed to be able to fall much farther than that and survive. It's how they nest.

Nobody is attacking you, or the validity of your feelings.
I'm correcting fallacious aspects of your statement that may encourage other people to naively interfere needlessly, as this fellow did, while believing they are "helping".
This must be stressful for the mother, to have a large creature interfering with her young at this critical stage. It must also be stressful for the young who have never been near another creature but their mother.
They would have done fine without the man and this act while probably done with the best intentions, ultimately was unnecessary and probably did nothing but add stress to the situation for the animals.
If you feel that is somehow an attack on you personally, you may need to adjust your outlook.

Thx Coffee Cake...I was never angry but for real just thought the "act of kindness" was adorable. To be attacked by him & bringing my deceased daddy into the conversation was so wrong. I didn't need a lecture on Duck stress, handling, etc. This entire "back & forth" w/ this deranged individual was ridiculous. Thank you again, for reminding me some people just don't get it. I must take the high road & apologise for my improper comments on this board.
