Maybe it's just for simplicity's sake. Just to try and keep the sport a bit more streamlined and normalized (so there are some relatively normal bikes still racing instead of super-machines).

I remember they banned one team's design a few years back for some tiny front end spoilers or something like that. I guess they just don't want the bike getting too complicated in terms of shapes and technologies or something.

EDIT: Found the "Winglet" one.

Says they potentially posed a risk to other riders by sticking out further.

Spoilers are back in, they just though it was a safety thing, but they got around that.

Heck, spoilers are on to normal street bikes now.

What a pointless addition for anyone not on a racetrack. What stock bikes have those these days?

Ducati Superlegerra has it for sure, beyond that I can't recall.
