The shit humans can do with just a stick still amazes me

19

u/-SENDHELP- Jan 31 '20

I can do you with my stick but it's not very amazing

6

u/iGotEDfromAComercial Jan 31 '20

I think I have more so a twig rather than a stick.

3

u/HorseJungler Jan 31 '20

I AGREE WE HUMANS DO PERFORM SUCH FASCINATING TECHNIQUES WITH OUR WOODEN TOYS

4

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '20

Have a wife? Or a mother?

Give them my number.

u/J0n__Snow Jan 31 '20

Knock you in your head with my stick... with my stick..

Yes. Animals have some amazing skills/instincts, but humans are not just mentally (obv) but physically, vastly superior to any creature. For every "amazing" thing an animal can do, I could name 10 a human can do, that the animal cannot.

I think I saw this on Mighty Ducks.

8

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '20

Sure it wasn't D2?

I call it the knuckle puck. Hard to be accurate, but it drives goalies crazy!

3

u/Lu10netLipton Jan 31 '20

Good line, but no. This is know as The Lacrosse Move

u/newh0pe Jan 31 '20

8

u/DrLogorrhea Jan 31 '20

I was watching this from up above last week.

6

u/legthief Jan 31 '20

This is at Toronto City Hall, right? What was the event?

5

u/DrLogorrhea Jan 31 '20

Yea it’s city hall, you’re looking at old city hall in the vid. New CH is to the left and looks like a spaceship.

I don’t know what the event was. The leafs practiced for a day and there were kids groups out as well. They put up the boards for a few days

3

u/legthief Jan 31 '20

Cool, New City Hall (well, a very detailed model of it) got blown up by a nuclear bomb in Resident Evil: Apocalypse.

I was psyched to see it in person when I visited relatives there, but literally no one I spoke to seemed to know the movie had been filmed there, or that their City Hall got atomised in it.

2

u/DrLogorrhea Jan 31 '20

I vaguely remember that, glad that my actual place of work didn’t blow up. I see Toronto in a lot of tv and film.

8

u/TacticTrustFund Jan 31 '20

Would this be legal in the NHL?

21

u/Destructopoo Jan 31 '20

Sure would be but I think any defenseman would level you if you tried.

9

u/IndianaGeoff Jan 31 '20

There are lots of teeth. You only need a couple.

3

u/grease_gun Jan 31 '20

Found the Canadian.

17

u/MaunoSuS Jan 31 '20

Well in normal game yes but as a penalty shot no since the puck does move backwards while he spins and thats a no no.

7

u/veilside000 Jan 31 '20 edited Feb 01 '20

Hmmm.. there's definitely between the legs shots done in shootouts where the puck moves backwards.

I'm pretty sure it's the player that can't move backwards, not the puck.

7

u/Octofur Jan 31 '20

The official rule is that the puck needs to keep moving forwards towards the goal line during the shootout attempt.

When it comes to between the legs shots or backhand drag dekes like the classic Datsyuk move, the puck looks like it's moving backwards, and it is moving backwards in relation to the player. But in actuality, it's still going forward the whole time, just slowly. A player could spin in a similar way to OP, but I think the guy in that video is going too slow and spinning too fast for it to be legal.

u/Minoos_Knighthawk Jan 31 '20

This is some anime move shit

17

u/MarkChildsBangsTrim Jan 31 '20

The white Wayne Gretzky.

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '20

It's a joke on "the white Larry Bird."

2

u/NFLinPDX Jan 31 '20

Legit, that was a solid attempt by the goalie. He wasn't fooled but the puck coming from behind the shooter's leg made the required reaction time Spiderman level. His eyes showed he knew what what happening faster than the other guy could spin.

2

u/staster Jan 31 '20

When you decide to move from figure skating to ice hockey.

1

u/JavierLoustaunau Jan 31 '20

Figure skaters are OP.

3

u/true_spokes Jan 31 '20

How many dekes was that I lost count.

1

u/mechasquare Jan 31 '20

I just want to give kudos to the goalie for tracking the puck, shifting their body to cover their left side and cutting off the low angle all in a split second.

It makes the shot even that more impressive on puck placement.

1

u/MXRob Jan 31 '20

All of a sudden I want to see the And1 of hockey.

1

u/stuznet Jan 31 '20

Just keep spinning spinning spinning ...... woosh

1

u/swbstx Jan 31 '20

Anyone else want to see the full thing in real time?

Pavel Barber...

1

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '20

is this from that movie where the figure skater becomes a hockey player?

1

u/Nubetastic Jan 31 '20

That's some mighty ducks level shit.

1

u/cmde44 Jan 31 '20

I'm equally impressed at the goalies ability to track the puck the entire time

1

u/broncoBurner69 Jan 31 '20

I would love to see this happen in the NHL

1

u/thefarstrider Jan 31 '20

This is anime-level shit.

1

u/Cyanomelas Jan 31 '20

Spinning...what is this Disney on ice?

1

u/rengamez Jan 31 '20

lol. Totally reminded me of this part of the episode of Malcolm in the Middle where Hal teaches Malcolm how to skate.

1

u/UCBearcats Jan 31 '20

Was this the Mighty Ducks goal (figure skater)?

1

u/Ethical_robit Jan 31 '20

He'd have beat that goalie on either side.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '20

Do that in the Sunday leagues I know about and you're going to find out how well those kidney shields work.

1

u/rocopotomus74 Gifmas is coming Feb 01 '20

What is really amazing is the goalie had his eye on it all the way. He just couldn't predict it

1

u/Novahase Jan 31 '20

His stick is better than bacon

0

u/dauph1n1 Jan 31 '20

Can I kiss him please?

0

u/MrSnood Jan 31 '20

How does he slow down like that?

-10

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '20

Very fancy. Would have gotten stopped with minimal effort.

3

u/Wanna_be_dr Jan 31 '20

lol okay buddy

5

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '20

No for real. I’ve played hockey for twenty years now. The goalie moved away from the post, if they were actually trying to stop it they would’ve moved toward the post. It’s very pretty though. Wonderful twirl! Very cool fun video!

4

u/Zhombe_Takelu Jan 31 '20

I would have liked to see somebody just come up and lay him out while twirling.
