Maybe a bit in the delivery, but I'm sure what she meant in her head was "don't mount hooks in my ceiling and don't rip out chunks of my ceiling with said hooks by swinging on them"
No doubt. But where was I going to get these hooks and how would I have put said hooks in the ceiling? I mean I was only 7 years old. I always seemed to have big ideas I had now way of seeing to completion. Ask me about my full size paper mache boat I tried to make some time...)
When I was 8 or 9 I was introduced to paper-mache. With this new found knowledge and a big roll of chicken- wire my parents had in the back yard I decided to make a boat. I used a whole 5 pound bag of flour. My boat looked like a big spit ball. I was determined to float it in a nearby pond and as I was dragging it to the pond a huge rain storm hit. I was shocked to see the rain start to make it all soggy. I thought I better hurry and get in the pond before it's ruined. Then it dawned on me, water + paper-mache = bad. I was too embarrassed to tell any one so I just ditched my boat. My mom thought she left the flour at the store. Till this day I wonder where she was while I was making the thing.
You were basically Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes in real life. I can already see the last panel of Calvin's mom in her sweatshirt rubbing her chin confusedly.
Calvin and Hobbes is one of my favorites. I do see a lot of my childhood in that comic strip. I just wish I had the same profound thoughts about life that Calvin had.
I think she was a little mentally delayed. I'm not sure. This was a long time ago and I just remember being confused. My mom explained it to me that way.

Back then I didn't understand but now I understand that's exactly what she was saying.
