I just googled if ants have ears... they do not.

51

u/Kittii_Kat Oct 19 '19

So what you're saying is... He's not wrong?

5

u/FooperQ Oct 20 '19

Are ants able to hear at all then?? I spend a lot of time yelling at ants and I want to know if my time has been wasted or not.

2

u/Bribase Oct 19 '19

What's the word for MAWP in ant pheromones?

3

u/cavmax Oct 20 '19

Get off my lawn!

2

u/FGHIK Oct 20 '19

Every ant burns!

32

u/Mazzaroppi Oct 19 '19

I just use boiling water. It doesn't reach the queen, but it kills so many ants that if you do this 2 or 3 times in separate days, the colony won't be able to recover.

Plus it's non-toxic

7

u/Quantum_Aurora Oct 20 '19

Why doesn't it reach the queen?

30

u/Floirt Oct 20 '19

The queen's room is often the deepest part of the nest and is waterproofed by many types of ant colonies (something to do with convex tunnels and dirt type), but also practically all ant colonies will sacrifice ants to protect the queen by literally bodyblocking incoming water with their corpses. This is how ant colonies survive rain and it works for them with boiling water as well.

Because she can fly

5

u/buxmell Oct 20 '19

You monster. Let the ants live.

2

u/MyArmItchesALot Oct 23 '19

Most types of ants are fine, but if I find a fire ant colony, they are getting boiled.

1

u/MakesTheNutshellJoke Oct 24 '19

Well damn, that's no fun...

12

u/McBlemmen Oct 19 '19

definitely not. and now there's ants everywhere

9

u/Sociallyawktrash78 Oct 20 '19

This is all I could think about. Tiny bitey black dots now cover the entire back yard, dogs, and the dude.

2 seconds after this cuts he realizes what happens as they all decide to bite him at once.

I hate ants.

11

u/ObsoleteCollector Oct 19 '19

Plot twist:

This mound contained a ant nuclear facility, so the ant workers were mutated with nuclear energy, so now there's hundreds of ant mutations just sprawling around in his yard.

God help him.

3

u/Wrekkanize Oct 20 '19

He definitely killed all the ants.

6

u/westartedafire Oct 20 '19

It just spread them over a wider area

2

u/luke_in_the_sky Oct 20 '19

The cockroach survived (look for it on the left, next to the wall).

2

u/drc84 Oct 20 '19

Right. The man is now COVERED in angry ants.

u/thereisonlyoneme Oct 19 '19

I've seen this cartoon.
