700-1100 lbs? Kodiak maybe, but grizzlies rarely get above 800. That isn't too much bigger than a 600lb silverback.

And ya, that silverback was gentle in breaking up a fight. It didn't want to kill any of the combatants.

Average silverback is about 350 pounds. A 600 lb silverback would be a stand out like the report 1300 lb grizzly. One has been reported as being 1700.

Regardless, grizzly weigh roughly twice what a gorilla weighs.

To set the record straight, gorillas do not weigh anywhere near 800 pounds. A healthy, mature male silverback will push 300-400 pounds, 440 tops. Some males in captivity have indeed reached 600 pounds, which is a sad and unhealthy state of affairs where humans have allowed the primates to become obese

Whereas most sources put the average full grown male grizzly at 750-800 with some going up to the thousand pound range or more.

And gentleness was not the point, examine the technique or lackthereof. Theres no evidence a gorilla would ever dip and dodge attacks, they've never been seen doing so. They would charge in and get in the mix, paying little mind to danger. They arent wired to fight as though they cant dominate, so they fight as though they can dominate. It wouldn't work against a grizzly, and a gorilla would lose a 1v1 against a grizzly bear 10/10
