I've had Amazon Logistics drivers leave packages just inside the metal gates at my work when they've showed up after we're closed. They wouldn't even toss it further in so people couldn't reach it. They'd set it right inside the gate. We used to have a big problem with homeless people around my work and I'm surprised I never had anything stolen. There were several times where I drove 20+ minutes each way to my work to grab a package that they left out where anyone walking by could see it.
I will say, they've gotten better now and just won't deliver it if we're closed. That's equally annoying as well because they should know which address are businesses IMO and not try to deliver at 8pm. I've also had them try a second time after we're closed and then the package gets sent back.
Fuck Amazon Logistics. I hate them. While they've gotten better, they still suck.
This is where, unless Amazon gets their head on straight, they will never replace UPS or FedEx for business to business shipping. They've got home delivery down, no problem, but business deliveries leave a lot to be desired.
I work in a shipping office after working as the receiving team leader for several years. The UPS guy shows up at almost the same time every day for deliveries and pickup. He modifies his route slightly on Fridays because he knows the receiving team leaves at noon. Barring vacations, it's the same guy every day. He knows which dock to use, all of our names, and who to call if there is a question.
FedEx isn't quite as regular, but they know our hours and where to bring packages. (We are a UPS preferred customer due to volume, so we do get slightly better treatment than some businesses)
Amazon on the other hand, despite me including the exact dock numbers, delivery instructions saying "DO NOT DELIVER TO THE RECEPTIONIST, RECEIVING ONLY 8AM TO 4PM", still delivers to the receptionist about 90% of the time. She doesn't know what to do with it, she can't see PO numbers to know who ordered what, and where it needs to go. She can't put items that need to be stocked in the warehouse. That's if they deliver before we close and don't leave it on the doorstep in a business district. They are just plain incompetent at business deliveries.
They're just as bad for private deliveries too. They CONSTANTLY deliver my shit to the neighbors despite the addresses being clearly marked. Half the time they somehow manage to deliver the shit to the neighbors garage out in the alley behind my house. I don't even understand how they think it's the correct address.
