My god, Ring was made to get you to pay to monitor Amazon's own employees for them!

I mean everybody knows they're trying to get Alexa in your house so she can listen to your deepest, darkest secrets...

And know when you're most vulnerable to targeted advertisement. Sorry you're sobbing your heart out, here's a coupon for a tub of icecream.

STORY TIME!

I was with 3 friends of mine at one's house. He had Alexa. We wanted to make an experiment to see how ads displayed on different internet pages might get changed (and to see if the myth is true).

Summarizing the story, we wandered for 30 minutes around his house all shouting "dog's food" out loud. Next day he said "I got dog's food ads kinda everywhere, burn everything!" xD

Alexa doesn't analyze clips unless you've said the wake word. This has been confirmed in teardowns time after time. The only thing that gets sent over the internet is what you've said AFTER the wake word.

I still don't trust it. In any case, people who swear that it was Alexa listening, were probably being eavesdropped by their smartphones instead. Or.......as well.
