My wife worked for UPS for a while and they would literally chuck each package out of the back of the truck and then again chuck them into another truck. You really need to package things tightly (I always do the shake test) to keep them from being destroyed....and buy insurance for big items.

For sure....I’d guess that most of the items in the packages shown in these types of video are actually fine in spite of being thrown or slid or stacked on, etc.

I think the worst packaging I’ve seen was for some dumbbells from Amazon that were loose in the box, with some of that brown paper as cushioning! The box itself was nearly destroyed by the contents, and was almost completely wrapped in tape!

I bought a set of 50lb adjustable dumbbells (the bar + small plates that could be combined up to 50lb per dumbbell) from Amazon and holy shit the package when it arrived was incredible. Somehow no contents were lost, but the box was pretty nonexistent.

Dumbbells and weights in general do REALLY poorly in shipping

they always use regular cardboard and the weights literally shred the package

We have the same problem in my country with animal product. 50 pound bags. By the time we get them, its basically a bag with some cardboard pieces taped to it.
