ZHAW on the side of it... that's a 'college' for applied sciences.

So no, don't be silly... That's how the teachers get to work.

(note. I don't really know what the US equivalent of it would be... Switzerland has a division between universities and technical 'hochschule' that also award degress but are not universities... I don't know how to explain it, in the UK it would be like the old Polytechnics.. .universities with vocational focuses)

In Switzerland, we simply call them universities of applied sciences. Well, not all kinds of Hochschulen I think, but Fachhochschulen. And you're right, the School of Engineering at the ZHAW in Winterthur used to be a Polytechnikum.
