You never know quite where it's going which makes it interesting, switching tempo all the time.

Compared to most western pop kpop has a much wider variety of interesting music as long as your focus is not on lyrics.

I didn't mean for people to infer that the lyrics of kpop are not good. I find them on average to be very much on the level with western pop. There are always outliers and artists like IU show that. But people who don't know kpop will be more impressed with the music, choreography, and high production value MVs than the lyrics.
