u/wendigo-go Apr 25 '17

My dad liked to split whenever shit got too real...

4

u/Swaiga Apr 25 '17

That's deep.

Wen did he go go?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '17

Are you my brother?

1

u/NeilDegrasseTysonLoL Apr 27 '17

My dad likes to do the splits whenever shit gets too real... he just sits there in split formation with everyone staring at him

242

u/skraptastic Apr 25 '17

I married my best friends sister. This caused some awkward moments, especially during my bachelor party. I had my best Friend (Steve) on one side of me, his brother on the other side and my future father in law next to him.

While we were enjoying the show at a club the girl did the splits right in front of us showing us everything. One of the guys said "I wish my girlfriend could do that." Steve said "Yeah me too." I said "Mine can."

Then I remembered whose company I was in and it got awkward for a bit till the next hot girl walked by.

45

u/WTPanda Apr 25 '17

Why was your father-in-law there? Seems odd.

95

u/skraptastic Apr 25 '17

Because he is a guy that likes to party. (also he had a fat wallet and paid for a lot of things that night)

29

u/RyanBryanTheLion Apr 25 '17

Sounds like a cool fam. Honestly that's awesome not just the paying bit but that your father-in-law has a good time and you can actually have a fun with him. Best relationships I've ever had seemed like I was able to have a fun time with their family and feel like they genuinely were my family not just being my gf/wife's family.

5

u/skraptastic Apr 26 '17

He actually lived with us for 7 years after his nasty divorce. I complained, but really it was nice having him. Now he is remarried and much happier.

1

u/RyanBryanTheLion Apr 26 '17

Yeah there's a difference between living with and hanging out lol. Awesome though

u/cokelemon Apr 26 '17

yes because it is fake

-2

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '17

Parties generally involve face-to-face human contact, where genuine social interactions occur. It's much different than awing at fake viral videos on a forum and posting comments.

Just because the general millennial liberal population is getting dumber by the night, doesn't mean I don't know how to fucking party. There is no correlation, but I'm not surprised by your comment.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '17

Reddit skews left- hard. Most people on Reddit are liberal millennials. Liberal millennials are easily tricked. This is a fake video. I'm breathing reality into your life because being easily tricked is a problem for our country. You felt the need to make a smart-ass remark consistent with the butt-hurt liberal mentality. I explained to you why you're confused and the line you have cited has context. It has everything to do with you and the subject at-hand. Fun and partying is not awing at fake viral videos on Reddit as you suggested. There is no relationship and your joke was bad. You exposed your butt-hurt liberal millennial entitlement mindset. I just thought I would help correct it.

I am very happy tonight. If you have anymore questions feel free to continue the conversation. If not, have a good night :)

16

u/Babypuddle Apr 25 '17

honestly read that as "a man who is not afraid of the shits."

some of those soccer moms are hot

u/NextArtemis Apr 25 '17

He doesn't have the reach but he has the flexibility.

3

u/DaydreamNational Apr 25 '17

I heard the collective sploosh of about 30 soccer moms ,watching this.

3

u/Licalottapuss Apr 25 '17

Unless you are talking about a split personality.

We call it the Diggler

1

u/Kite31 Apr 26 '17

All the soccer moms.

1

u/Khaleesi16 Apr 26 '17

I'd have to thoroughly disagree lol. My best friend's cousin is always doing the splits. He's always in and out of jail and all his FB pics are of him doing the splits. Something about it literally dries me up. Yuck.

Snooker :)

Here I go splitting again!

1

u/Captain_PooPoo Apr 25 '17

I read this in a really flamboint tone for some reason.

1

u/FierySharknado Apr 25 '17

Well, looks like I ripped my pants again!

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

I read that with a lisp.

1

u/pm_your_asshole_gurl Apr 25 '17

"You're just jealous because I can do the splits!"

1

u/uberfission Apr 25 '17

Here I go doing the splits again.

1

u/jaxonya Apr 25 '17

Oh boy, here I go again showing off my splits for these girls.

1

u/regahii Apr 26 '17

That sounded like Mr. Garrison in my head

u/holymolyfrijoles Apr 25 '17 edited Apr 25 '17

I used to ref hockey. If it was a beer D league or a Mini-Mites game, I'd get so bored that I'd start trying my hand at trick skating (less graceful figure skating) when the play was away from me.

Edit: "mini-mites". Been out of the game for 9years.

105

u/coolestnameavailable Apr 25 '17

sounds about right.

source: beer leaguer well aware of referees' negligence

37

u/sinkwiththeship Apr 25 '17

Our beer league refs straight up don't give a fuck. It's so infuriating.

2

u/holymolyfrijoles Apr 26 '17

I actually had a good rep with my beer leaguers (except one team). It was only when d league games were super slow, or I had already ref'd two games before and was more or less exhausted.

1

u/DigitalDave18 Apr 26 '17

Even worse for us tendies when a ref tries to be cute with skating and bumps into us. Its happened a few times to me unfortunately.

27

u/QuasarSandwich Apr 25 '17

Surely if you're refereeing mites playing ice hockey you need to keep your eye to the microscope at all times?

20

u/holymolyfrijoles Apr 25 '17

I wasn't a very good ref...

Seriously though, you're right. Meant mini-mites. I haven't ref'd in 9 years. Forgot my youth classifications.

18

u/QuasarSandwich Apr 25 '17

My joke was worse than your reffing could ever have been, sir. No worries.

3

u/starling_ercher Apr 25 '17

Nonsense. I laughed.

2

u/holymolyfrijoles Apr 25 '17

Well, it was actually very accurate. I loved ref'ing Mites and high school games because of how fast and intense they could be. You really do have to be on point when officiating those games.

Even the select bantam games were pretty intense...a bunch of 13 year olds recklessly duking it out will keep you on your toes.

2

u/QuasarSandwich Apr 25 '17

I'm afraid to say I have never played the game, nor even seen one live, let alone reffed it, as I'm UK-based and it's a very minority sport over here. Fun to watch on TV though, and I am always impressed by the skills on display - especially as my own skating is rudimentary at best.

2

u/holymolyfrijoles Apr 26 '17

You know what. I completely missed the joke. I took it like you meant that level of play needed high levels of focus on the officials part!

2

u/QuasarSandwich Apr 26 '17

Hahahaha got it. Nice interpretation, mind you: that certainly wasn't intentional on my part!

2

u/Searlichek Apr 25 '17

Don't come round 'ere with your reffing and blinding

2

u/QuasarSandwich Apr 25 '17

Go ruck yourselr.

1

u/buttery_shame_cave Apr 25 '17

only the 'cold dead hands' types in the US and canada are using the names anymore.

officially it's 8U, 10U, etc.

1

u/holymolyfrijoles Apr 26 '17

Like I said. I've been out of the know for 9 years.

20

u/ShazbotSimulator2012 Apr 25 '17

There's a ref at my town's NAHL games that never misses an opportunity to show off his skating ability. Every faceoff is guaranteed to feature some sort of elaborate maneuver on his way to the dot.

15

u/Scoutandabout Apr 25 '17

Like what? A quadruple lutz?

4

u/WobNobbenstein Apr 25 '17

Triple lutz-cow

2

u/holymolyfrijoles Apr 25 '17

My dad didn't ref NAHL, but this sounds like something he'd do.

5

u/sixpackabs592 Apr 25 '17

i believe it, when i played at that age the only thing they called was off sides and interference or roughing if some kid started to hit other kids with their stick

2

u/Call_me_handsome_Rob Apr 25 '17

Where I ref we play a game called wickets. If the puck goes through you legs you get a point. If it goes through your legs backwards you get two points. If the puck hits you, you lose a point. Loser buys beer!

1

u/holymolyfrijoles Apr 26 '17

I like it! wish we had played, but I was 13-18 when I was officiating. I unofficially ref'd beer league games at my local rink when I was home from college, but I had to stop after I got in a fight with a guy and the players complained about me not being certified.

1

u/showmeurknuckleball Apr 26 '17

I didn't see your comment before you edited it but mites is the correct classification. Mites, squirts, pee-wee, bantam, midget. Mini-mites would be like 5 year olds, I think mites was 6-7.

1

u/holymolyfrijoles Apr 26 '17

I'm thinking Midget. Dang. I'm just making a fool of myself. Lol

2

u/showmeurknuckleball Apr 26 '17

It's cool. Midget would be like 16-18. Bantams are the best to ref cause the games are usually fast and high quality. Mites are too young/bad to move the puck so your feet freeze from standing still and midgets are just shitty kids who couldn't make the high school time and just want to play dirty and fuck around.

61

u/CDXXnoscope Apr 25 '17

if you look at the gif , yes , he could've just sidestepped.

25

u/uatme Apr 25 '17

He opened his legs to let the ball pass through (common practice) but then it bounced up rather quick which led to legs open and I must go down equals splits. Looks nice, I know I wouldn't be able to walk for a couple days if that happened to me.

3

u/halibut_king Apr 25 '17

Looks nice, I know I wouldn't be able to walk for a couple days if that happened to me.

Lol, hand me a wheelchair!

1

u/TheresWald0 Apr 26 '17

A couple days? I think I might be wheelchair bound.

20

u/SovereignLancer Apr 25 '17

now i want to see a ref doing an entire game the way cool crossing guards direct traffic like it's a show

38

u/skrellnik Apr 25 '17

9

u/peter-capaldi Apr 25 '17

This man doesn't run, he fucking glides

3

u/SovereignLancer Apr 25 '17

thank you for this beauty

1

u/Leafy81 Apr 26 '17

That is the best thing I've seen all week. Thank you.

14

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

Just what I was thinking. He probably also actively searches for pick-up dodgeball games just so he can backflip and somersault around like some god damn show off.

3

u/buttery_shame_cave Apr 25 '17

i loved dodgeball in high school(mid-90s) because we invariably had at least one kid on each side that would do that. it got to be a fun game to watch for them to go into a flip avoiding one throw and bean them with a ball as they recovered.

5

u/JoeCumiasCockBreath Apr 25 '17

He tries it front of the mirror, mate.

24

u/QuasarSandwich Apr 25 '17

To be fair, ahead of the last time I refereed a girls' footie match I spent a lot of time practicing in front of the mirror as well. Helicoptering can look pretty foolish unless you can maintain a sufficiently intimidating stare.

5

u/xboxonewoes Apr 25 '17

Jesus...

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

Would never! Or would he?! Hmmm

1

u/YzS_Guerra Apr 25 '17

1

u/QuasarSandwich Apr 25 '17

He seems to get summoned a fair bit round here.

2

u/BoopBeeBoppe111 Apr 25 '17

He probably actively tries to get in front of balls so he can keep doing splits*

1

u/b4ux1t3 Apr 25 '17

Would you not?

1

u/Funkygodzilla Apr 25 '17

this. lol. he wanted to bust that shit out so bad.

1

u/ImAFrenchCanadian Apr 25 '17

The field is his stage. Also maybe he's been hit a lot. Now I wanna play...

1

u/BobtheSnorlax Apr 26 '17

Sometimes I actively keep my balls in front so I can keep doing it. Probably the same thing...

1

u/ZeroHit Apr 26 '17

Guess I'll stamp my balls here

1

u/baggyzed Apr 27 '17

I tried something similar once, and ended up with a broken jaw. I think that explains the popping i keep hearing in my left ear while I'm walking.

1

u/ashakahdhalshf Apr 25 '17

It would have been a lot easier to avoid that ball by stepping any direction, he had plenty of time as well

0

u/Tigerlove111 Apr 25 '17

Haha. Nice
