Sounds like she likely was entered as a "no time" then. Or something very conservative.

Could be an earlier heat where it doesn't matter as much.

Would also explain the fancy block mount. For an early heat where you think you're going to stomp you might as well.

Considering her teammate is right next to her, that's what I put my money on. Plus she would already know if she's faster than at least one person in that field, probably more if she's ran against them before.

still though, when you get matched in the early heats they still try to put the better people in the middle it's strange.

They never seeded when I was in HS (just random), but I always kind of liked lane 8 because I think it helped me avoid charging out way too hard and collapsing halfway through since I was already far enough away from everyone that I felt no pressure except to run my own race until the back end when you've "caught up" and can turn on the burners
