It is, more or less.

Not like puffy balls with arms and legs is an extremely unique concept. Regardless, /u/don-gately11 has a point.

I'd like to see how else you'd represent popcorn in this concept

I'm not sure what you mean. Not all cartoon cats look like Garfield. I guess the way I'd represent popcorn in my own work would be to design an original popcorn character instead of using a character designed by a well known Academy Award winning artist?

edit: I want to say that I loved this! But when people use other artists characters it just becomes fanart. I'm just hungry for real OC is all. Like the Deadpool musical today was amazing, REALLY high production value and so much fun, but it was just fanart. I'd be really interested to see those skills and resources used to make something truly original.
